Post Loop upper limit? Not showing my most recent post

I am using the Post Loop widget with and AccessPress Pro website.
Up until this posting, the loop has been working fine on the front page in the Home Featured Widget section. I am grabbing all posts in category “blog”, sorting by newest first, and posting only 1 in the featured block (showing the most recent only.) I’ve tried adjusting just about everything, but no effect. The post shows on the main blog page, just not on the front page where I’m using the Post Loop.
The reason I’m asking about an upper limit is because this is post number 21 and it worked until number 20.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Rob,

If you don’t specify a value in the posts per page field (open the post loop, click Build Post query and you’ll find it on that screen), the post loop widget will use the global default setting. This setting can be adjusted by navigating to WP AdminSettingsReading and then adjust the Blog pages show at most setting.

    Thanks Alex.
I am using a blog page though, so that will break that page. It was working just fine before, so not sure what could have changed its process.

    Hi Rob,

    Ah.
To clarify, have you tried setting the posts per page value for the post loop?

    Alex,
My blog page inside shows all blog posts and is using the Post Loop with the posts per page set to zero (wide open.) My front page that should show the latest blog only is using the post loop with the posts per page set to 1 and the selection sort to get the most recent as that 1 post. Instead, it always seems to get the last post of 2016.

If I use your suggestion on the Settings>Reading, that also affects my main blog page (but doesn’t fix the Page 1 problem for some reason.)

I even tried using a date range that only includes this post (post query says 1) but it won’t show up on the front page (nothing does.) Suggestions?

    Alex,
I put a dummy post as the newest post and it shows the one I wanted to show on the front page. I’m not sure what’s causing that. I now have to filter my whole page to prevent that one from showing in the regular blog page (and it will still show if I turn prev>next back on.) Need to find a solution for this. I may try setting the front page post loop to show 2 instead of 1 and see if that works without the dummy.

    Hi Rob,

Would it be possible for you to send me an export for the post loop widget on the home page? To do this open up the page with the widget and click layout in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.
