Post loop not finding posts

Hi,

I recently made some changes to my homepage and the post loop stopped working. I can use the “recent posts” widget but the post loop doesn’t find any posts. It will show them in preview mode, but after I save the changes, it loses them again.

The only real change I made was to move the slider from the main theme settings to the specific page as I am making the site bilingual.

I have it working on my site www.daringgreatness.com but the problem is on www.vivrepleinement.ch. There are only 2 plugins in vivrepleinement that I don’t have on daringgreatness. I tried deactivating wpforms but that didn’t change anything. I can’t properly test deactivating wpglobus as the site doesn’t load right without it. Could that be the problem? Or might there be something else?

Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Kjsq

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please, could you perhaps try translating one of the posts on the CH site and see if that makes any difference to the post loop?

    Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. I had already translated one of the posts and I’ve now done all 3 and it doesn’t change anything. However, I did try properly deactivating wpglobus and then it works just fine so I guess it is just not compatible. Is there anything you can do or suggest? Or do I just have to change plugin/theme?

What I did notice is that when I go to edit the page each time and click on edit the post loop, in the post query it shows 0 posts (the little number in the red circle) until I expand the post query and then it picks up the 3. It continues showing 3 when I click done and go back in or after I update the page, until I leave the page and come back, then it “loses” them again. However, even after “finding” the posts and updating again, they still don’t show on the page preview.

If there is a solution I would prefer not to have to change plugin or theme, but at least it is clear now.

Bizarrely, when I make the changes to the post loop with wpglobus deactivated and then reactivate it, it mostly works. Unfortunately, on the French page, it shows the post loop, but then underneath it says nothing found. I can’t see a second post loop in the dashboard, only in the code.

Also, if I even go to edit the home page at all, even if I don’t touch the post loop, I lose it again.

If I am going to have to change the language plugin, can you recommend one that is compatible with Vantage? Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the feedback.

Vantage most likely isn’t related to the challenge, you can confirm that by temporarily switching themes.

The Post Loop widget is a Page Builder core widget.

Polylang offers a separate page per translation, that allows it to work with Page Builder. WPML also works if you’re looking for a premium plugin.

    Hi, I Work Here

I’m not quite sure how to test the issue due to the incompatibility between WP Globus and Page Builder. My understanding of the layout is:

Home Page English: Load post loop widget to pull English posts.
Home Page Some Other Languange: Load post loop to pull posts from this other language.

The issue I immediately run into is on the page with the Post Loop widget, the Page Builder tab only loads on the first language and not in the other language tabs.

I get the feeling I’m missing a part of this issue. Perhaps the above is helpful in some way? If you are able to give Polylang a quick test, perhaps it’ll help? Thanks for reading.

Just to say, there is no “quick test”with Polylang! It does work however. So that’s great. I guess I will just stick with Polylang.
    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

Not to fully move over to Polylang, definitely not. By quick test, I meant to install the plugin, set up two langs and set up a demo page and posts. Really glad to hear you’re making progress :)
