Post Loop – causing excessive query blocked by host WPEngine

So I had my website all setup on a staging site this week and copied it over to the live page today.

However immediately my blog page stopped working both on the live and the staging website.

I’ve contacted WPEngine and they have told me that the page is causing a huge query and is being cut off by their system.

They have limited it down to the Post Loop widget on my page (no surprise there – it’s the only thing on the entire page!)

What can I do about this? Is there a way to build a blog page other than using the Post Loop option – or a way to stop it going crazy and generating a huge query?

WPEngine said the following – If there haven’t been any updates in the last few days, then it would appear that the plugin is increasing tot he data it’s using to build the page, without disposing of the old. So even though it’s only outputing 6 posts, it may be rendering all posts for each page load, causing the long query.

Any thoughts on this?

Would REALLY appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Phil,

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look at your settings? I ask as we’re not aware of any compatibility issues with WP Engine (SiteOrigin.com is actually hosted on WP Engine) and the post loop so we’re not too sure why this is happening.
