Post loop – Additional query arguments

Hi,
I’m using Vantage Premium / page builder.

I try to filter 3 categories:

Category_name=array ('Cat A','Cat B','Cat C')

Result: only 2 of the categories are shown (Cat B and Cat C)

I’ve tried to change the the arguments to (‘Cat B’,’Cat A’,’Cat C’ )
Result: only the last 2 cats are shown A and C.

Any ideas?

Harald

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Harald

    Thanks for running Vantage.

    cat=1,2,3

    Where 1, 2 and 3 are the category ID’s you’d like to filter should do the job. Ensure that argument is placed in the Additional field of the Post Loop widget. You can get the category ID’s in question by going to Posts > Categories and clicking on each category, the ID will be in the url.

    Life could be so easy!
    Thank you very much

    Harald

    By the way: could I use the additional query arguments also for tags?
    Like “tag=123,234” …

    Hi, I Work Here

    Glad that helped.

    Un-tested but you can try:

    tag=apples+oranges

    You can search for several tags using “+”.

    Let us know how that goes. Thanks.

    Andrew I just found this and Im finally getting it to work. It would be REALLY helpful if you simply had apage that showed all the options for this feature. It is KEY to my site. I click on your link, but it goes to the wordpres site about the php, but it is very unclear.

    link it back to site origin and add examples from users at the bottom and it would have saved me so much grief.

    Hi Andrew,

    that’s a good idea!
    I’ve spend much time on wordpress codex site – but the syntax for the post loop is different!

    So a short explanation will be very helpful!

    Best wishes

    Harald

    Hi, I Work Here

    For sure, thanks for your feedback everyone. I’ll put this on our documentation to do list.

    Let me know what the outcome is that you’re after and I’ll try assist with the correct argument.

    If you’re going to be using the Carousel template then rather use the Carousel widget in our new Widget Bundle plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/. It has a user interface for building your query argument. This is the direction we’ll be heading with this sort of challenge.

    I dont understand how to build things with the widget you mention. Is there some kind of instructions you have? what are the post in and taxonomies fields for? When I press Post In its blank.

    Hi Andrew,

    I’ve tested your widget bundle.

    It’s running fine!
    Your query argument tool in the Carousel widget is the right solution. Perfect!

    … but I need the solution for the Carousel without pictures, only with text.

    Any idea?

    Hello Andrew, thanks a lot for all these explainations.
    I wonder how to define the post’s cat id I want to show in the SiteOrigin Post Carousel widget as it offers to choose from the post list, but I would like it to refresh any time I insert an article in this cat… ???
    Thanks,
    Have a great day,
    Missca
