Position of Post Comments Box in Mobile Devices in Portrait Mode

Hi lads,

When my Website comes up on small mobile phones in portrait mode, the sidepane on the right with all it’s widgets folds down and scrolls under the main area as you would expect. however, the post comments box which is at the bottom of the main area on large screens ends up in the middle between the main content and the side pane as you scroll down. I’m not sure this s the best position. It should really be at the end of everything. Is there any way of responsively making it shift to the very bottom once the fold-over occurs?

Thanks,

Hugh

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Hugh

    Thanks for reaching out.

There is no easy way of handling this. If you think about the page in terms of code, in most cases the code or document flow as it’s called, runs in the same order as the viewer sees the site. When we drop the sidebar below the main content area, we’re just turning off the floats that make those two sit side by side, the document flow is the same though. In the code, the sidebar always comes after the primary content area.

So…to do what you’re looking for we’d most likely need to push another template at mobile users. It’s not something Iv’e done in the past and is, unfortunately, a custom development task. For this kind of stuff we recommend the guys at Codeable. They do great work.

Sorry, wish I had better news.

No Problem. I could probably do it by putting a comments widget in the footer and the sidebar and using a display:none command for the one I wanted to stay invisible until the responsive fold-over occurred, and visa-verse. Anyway it’s not a big deal.

    Thanks :)

For sure, that could definitely work.
