Plugin Update Broke Website (widgets bundle)

4 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 4 years ago

After updating the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin, (which states it’s compatible with our version of WordPress) our website failed.

Please see below:

And it gives this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘const’ (T_CONST), expecting variable (T_VARIABLE) in /home/adm1939/public_html/wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/base/inc/lib/Less/Version.php on line 11

Please help! We are running WordPress 5.7

Thank you!

    Hi Andrew

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please, let us know which version of PHP is running on your server. You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/server-ip-memory-usage/ to check. It’ll output the info in the WordPress admin area in the footer.

    Hi Andrew,

    Awesome name!

The server PHP version is 5.7.33.

    Thank you for the help!

    Indeed it is! :)

Sorry for the hassle, the Widgets Bundle update includes a change that requires PHP 7.1 or higher. We’ll release an update shortly to fix the issue. To roll back to the previous version of the Widgets Bundle you can use the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/.

We’ll have an update out hopefully within the next 30mins.

Thanks for your understanding. The PHP issue for versions less than 7.1 has been resolved. You can update to the Widgets Bundle version 1.18.1 when ready.
