HI
I installed latest version of WordPress and was already using Page Builder by SiteOrigin.
Now I also installed SiteOrigin Widget Bundle and since then I cannot edit my home page anymore.
When I press edit on home page, the page builder does not loead and I get a grey empty screen.
When I deactivate the Widget Bundle plugin, the issue is solved.
However, I need the bundle functionality to edit a row with content. Previously this worked fine, since I uploaded recent versions there seem to be plugin issues between page builder and widget bundle. By the way I am using Sydney theme.
Please can you check an advise what to do
Many thanks
Hi Ronald,
It sounds like you’ve reached the memory limit. You need to apply a pretty hands on fix to resolve this issue. This article would be a good read as it’ll outline how to change it. You’ll need to edit wp-config.php. If you’re unfamiliar with FTP, I would recommend asking your hosting provider for help with editing this file.
Hi Alex
Thanks for your reply. I contacted my hosting provider and they have increased the memory limit to 128MB and for testing purposes even to 256MB. Unfortunately, it did not help. On the other hand, it seems that the home page does ask for al lot of memory, maybe there is something in the code? But I need your help on this please.
By the way, I have uploaded your latest versions of Page Builder & Widgets Bundle today.
So problem is as follows:
– I go to pages/all pages and open a random page and press ‘edit’, no problem: page builder opens
– If I do the same with the Home Page, than I get an empty screen
I put the page online already, so maybe you can have a look?

I need this fixed as I cannot finish the site now and it should be live by now
Thanks in advance
Ronald
Thank you
I just received this additional information from my hosting provider:
“problem is indeed caused by memory, see error log:”
[Thu Jun 01 16:22:52 2017] [error] [client 80.101.224.123] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 90112 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/festivalshowband.nl/festivalcoverband.nl/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3720, referer: http://festivalcoverband.nl/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
Hi Ronald,
The empty screen is due to the memory limit being reached.
How many plugins do you have? I ask as Page Builder and SiteOrgin Widgets Bundle simply do not require that much memory (I typically only use 125 MB) so I suspect either you’re using too many bulky plugins or there’s a serious plugin conflict between the SiteOrigin Plugins (SiteOrigin Page Builder and the Widgets Bundle are developed directly together so the chance of them conflicting is basically impossible – it’s significantly more likely for it to be something else) and another plugin.
Can you please send me a list of the plugins you’re using?
Plugins
Deactivated
– Easy Google Fonts by Titanium Themes
– Simple Custom CSS and JS by Diana Burduja
– UpdraftPlus by UpdraftPlus.com
– WordPress Importer by wordpressdotorg
Activated
– Sydney Toolbox by aThemes
– PageBuilder by SiteOrigin
– SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle by SiteOrigin
Hi Ronald,
And the issue is still occurring? If so, that’s… somethings not right here. Does this issue occur if you change theme?
Yes the issue is still occurring.
I changed theme to twenty seventeen. Then the edit home page opens, however NOT in page builder mode
(in simple text edit mode)
Then I also deactivated Sydney Toolbox, but same result.
The other pages keep opening as normal, so also in layout of pagebuilder (with rows and widgets etc)
Is an option that you login and have a closer look?
Thank you in advance
Ronald
I also deleted some plugins, the only plugins are now
Active
– Sydney Toolbox by aThemes
– PageBuilder by SiteOrigin
– SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle by SiteOrigin
– Updraft (deactivated)
When I also de-activate Widgets Bundle then the home page opens when pressing edit, however in simple text edit mode (so NOT in page builder mode, in other wiords I do not see rows, widgets functionality)
Hi Ronald,
Can you please enable WP_DEBUG and then replicate the issue again? WordPress should output a proper error now so it should give us a direction as to what is causing this issue.
You’ll need to edit wp-config.php to do this. If you’re unfamiliar with FTP, I would recommend asking your hosting provider for help with editing this file.
Hi Alex, last sunday I decided to make an export of the site and after that I removed the WordPress installation. I re-installed WordPress, imported the site content…and the problem seems solved. Must have been something corrupt I guess?
Thanks for your tips.
Hi Ronald,
Odd stuff. It could be, let me know if it happens again and we’ll pick this back up again. Hopefully, however, it doesn’t. I’m very sorry about this whole situation! :(
