Please, could you solve/help/respond Re ‘Video using Page Builder’ issue

Hey guys, Alex here

right, I’ve done my ‘homework’ and tested different solutions + googled + searched the forum…
this seem to be a long-lasting AND unresolved issue(plenty of unanswered threads), guys, so would be great if someone could tell us
a) if it can this be solved with Page Builder at all
b) if YES, then HOW

here’s the issue:

we’d like to build a page(s) with SO page builder
we need to have video(s) on that page
we need them to be centered
we need them to scale properly on small screens/mobile
+
we need to control the video features displayed e.g. remove related videos at the end. remove the title, etc

After trying various widgets the only one that scale video properly on mobile
(without messing up the resolution and creating those ugly black bars around the video)
…is the Embed Video(PB) widget, BUT
the problem is it uses only the base URL of the YT video
so we it shows the video title + related videos at the end + etc
which we don’t want to display

…tried and tried various modifications of the URL by appending &rel=0etc&etc with no luck

Guys, could you please fix that or at least tell us if it can’t be done with your page builder
so we could stop hoping/waiting/wasting time and look for other tools

Mucho arigato! ;)

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alex,

Basically, the only fool proof solution for responsive (ie. videos that scale) is to use a plugin (or theme) that includes FitVids.js support. Without FitVids.js, the video will typically not scale as desired as the browser enforces an aspect ratio based on the video file.

Currently, the SIteOrigin Video Player doesn’t include FitVids.js support (it’s planned though) but it is included via all of our recent themes and a lot of popular themes include it. Consider the video parameters issue logged.

In the meantime, I would recommend using a different widget for videos (I don’t have a specific recommendation) or using the WordPress video oEmbed functionality (which this will work with the SiteOrigin Editor widget). The latter being the recommended solution if you have FitVids.js present on the website.
