Placeholder widget

Hi
As per the placeholder widget instructions, I added this code to CSS editor and everything disappeared. Dunno what I did to cause that and wonder if it can be retrieved?
Thanks…sorry to cause problems
Paul
function mytheme_recommended_widgets($widgets){
if( empty($widgets[‘My_Custom_Widget’]) ){
$widgets[‘My_Custom_Widget’] = array(
‘class’ => ‘My_Custom_Widget’,
‘title’ => __(‘Custom Widget’, ‘siteorigin-panels’),
‘description’ => __(‘My custom widget description’, ‘mytheme’),
‘installed’ => false,
‘plugin’ => array(
‘name’ => __(‘Custom Widget Plugin’, ‘siteorigin-panels’),
‘slug’ => ‘plugin-slug’
),
‘groups’ => array(‘recommended’),
‘icon’ => ‘dashicons dashicons-edit’,
);
}
return $widgets;
}
add_filter(‘siteorigin_panels_widgets’, ‘mytheme_recommended_widgets’);

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Paul,

    That code you entered is actually PHP and it’s mainly targeted at developers who want to modify the behaviour of Page Builder. As a user, you shouldn’t need to worry about placeholder widgets.

    If you let us know what you were trying to accomplish we’d be glad to help you with it.

    Hi Greg,

    I hope you're having a good weekend. Thanks for getting back to me so fast it's much appreciated. I was just going through the paperwork and thought
    Id just do as it suggested, or thought suggested …so you can see I know
    3/5ths of 5/8ths about coding in general. So I pasted that code snd a bit from the earlier pahge and pasted them in Wp Editor. First one did nothing
    …so I thought Ha its doing something as nothing happened. So I confidently pasted the next one and boom…lights out.

    However, why I was perusing I seem to remember a bit of code for putting filler content on….is ythere something like that or was I dreaming?

    Thankyou thankyou

    Much appreciated

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Paul

    Sorry to hear about the hassle here. It’s best to not insert any PHP into the Custom CSS or WP editor fields.

    Have you managed to regain access to your WordPress installation?

    What are you wanting to filter in your content?

    Let me know about the above two questions and we’ll do our best to help out from there.

    Thanks

    Hi Andrew,

    No. Not as yet …all I see are blanks. If Ive totally F'd it up which due to the lack of anything to look at …it looks like I have. Can you let me know , as I'll get over and start over….. but if it can be saved ….It certainly would be good

    Re Filter content/…… I thought I saw something somewhere and it could well have been somewhere else….abo filler content you load at start so you can see a generic view of what a page looks like. Ive done this on another site …where you load ifiller in via WP Importer

    But it sounds like Im getting it mixed with some other bloody thing.

    Hey I had JetPack on this site . Ive been trying to find out if its worth the trouble

    Thanks for your patience with this, Enjoy rest of weekend

    Hi, I Work Here

    Greg might have further feedback here. You could perhaps try to de-activating your plugins via FTP and see if that restores access your installation.

    Hi, I Work Here

    After chatting further with Greg is sounds like you might have inserted code via Appearance > Editor. If that’s the case then this is potentially a quick fix. Using FTP or your hosting file manager you could head to /wp-content/themes and delete the “vantage” folder. Once that’s done access should be restored to your WordPress installation. You can then re-install the theme. No data will be lost.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks. First I did as you suggested and removed "Vantage"….but it didn't work. Then I knocked out SO Widgets and Pagemaker….but still death white page. So I tried renaming the plugins file and called it plugins-rename to in effect deactivate all plugins. And still white pages but for one. When I call the site via browser address bar or Omnibox,I think its called now, I get the site under construction widget showing.

    You asked how i got myself in this bloody mess? Its my fault completely,of course, but the lure to try it was what I read in Jetpak. As you set it up,
    there's a put talking CSS and its edit ability. .Now I realise zI should not have had that CSS thing switched on…..but I think in future I might shy away from Jetypak too. it is a cumbersome process to set it up and in doing ….it gives dickheads like me a page to close you down.

    With that it might give you a spark for a fix? If so that would be great.
    If not ….canyou figure why the "site under construction" page shows,
    even with the plugins deactivated. making matters worse my MAC is ill and away having a "hisdirectomy". So I'm back on the clunker and trying to think backwards in a time of stress. Eventually I found "internet Options"
    and did whatever is done in there ….like you do when you clear the cashe on MAC….and that bloody site under construction still shows. THe only fuzzy feeling it gives is it confirms a remote sense of life.

    Thanks

    Paul

    PS I got this as a promo thru week and thought it was interesting as it cites sites you usually don't see cited on such docs.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Sorry to hear that didn’t help. I took a look at your Under Construction page now. I’d guess that is being generated by a plugin but can’t be sure.

    You could perhaps run through the extended list of options in this good help article:

    Hi Andrew and Greg,

    I just got this…after just about giving up on it, from my host.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your response.

    I have found that when you signed up for the reseller package, it created the account on our new system which has different nameservers than your other hosting service. The new nameservers are:

    ns1101.insty.me ns1102.insty.me

    If you update mobilemarketingexpert.com.au to point there, you will be able to modify the content of the site on the correct server.

    Thanks,
    Josh

    So there you go strange things happen.

    Anyhow on a brighter note….on the reseller package I'll be trying my darnndest to get ppl to use SiteOrigin Themes and push them hard to cough up a fee as well.

    As a point of difference to most, and to keep customers closel…. we want to offer our clients Loyalty, Coupons, Mobile Sites, Reputation Management etc ….but when ordering a website have WP preloaded with the plugins and themes we want them to use. Is it cool by you guys to do have PageBuilder,
    SO Widgets and the other plugins you suggest ….pre loaded on the download from our Google Drive or S3 thus just leaving them to request the theme direclly site from the SiteOrigin website.

    We want to offer this at $147 with repeating monthly hosting fees. We believe this price will be a great lead magnet, with substantial upside thereafter. Again, in line with your policy of pay what you like, we will be firm and do what we can to make sure a fee is paid.

    One more thing, I think new businesses, world wide, will soon start clamouring for reverse responsive Mobile sites…in other words one that starts life as a Mobile Site and constructs up to a regular one. For many classes of business, especially ones where their users want research style content, 2/3rds would suffice., esp if special templates ideal for specific types of business and / or businesses, I'm sure Page Builder could do something to create this AND include dedicated pages for iPad and tablet pages as well.

    When compared to a business who's only digital asset is a NON
    RESPONSIVE,site, most would say a business with RESPONSIVE capability, is clearly better off. But Are They? I tend to think responsive sites could,
    inadvertently, be driving the owners of them into a false security. If you came straight out and asked Responsive Site Owners, if they think their their site absolves them of their very real need of a dedicated, purpose built, mobile site…I think most would say they do not need a DEDICATED
    MOBI.SITE.

    If, o`n the other hand, they understood the reasons why and the glittering benefits of these assets…..then I'm sure they'd want them. But vso few understand the need for dedicated Mobi Phone Sites and fewer still would be capable of mounting an argument as to why All site owners need separate dedicated websites which are designed for the vastly different needs,
    wants and buying ability of users of these devices – at the time and on the day they're using them. \

    – Regular sites are essentially research sites, whereas
    – Mobi Phone Optimised Sites …during business hours, they're in the hands of people often spending large amounts of other pep[les money
    – during late arvo…used by people to catch up with significant others to figure what they gonna eat or who they're gonna greet and eat….and that's where I'll leave that
    – after dinner to meet and catch up, go to cinema, gym, organise family…or give it a rest and morph into a PC user for a while. BUT if they do that, they won't be buyers
    UNLESS the re-targeters line them up like Elephant poachers.
    – before I said, Mobi users, meaning Smartphone users as a group were the forth largest single group of spenders in history
    – 80% of these people are Android Smartphone users
    – 20% of them use Apple iOS system Smartphones
    – KNowing the above
    ….which users would you place your precious Ad spend dollars on in order to drive them to your pages? RIGHT! iPhone users because now I can reveal,
    that iPhone users, in terms of cash they splash without a care in the world and from a position where as a group they account for just a quarter of
    Android users BUT out spend them 4 to 1. This means 20% of iOS Smartphone users spend more than all Android users combined. This makes them the second largest spenders ever.
    – BUT the largest spenders ever identified as a group, include many from group 2…the most prolific spenders, some may say spendthrifts….the most prolific buyers poncing around the planet…probably climate deniers or dieters in denial,
    are iPad Users

    That's my argument for, and for and against responsive mobile websites. But
    I think it is a compelling one for you guys to build reverse responsive sites. Why? Because Mobile Sites, built as Mobile Sites must morph back to normality ie from Mobi to Regular, in a much more useful,and profitable manner than when they came the other way..

    What's more, there's a Cardinal Rule of Selling, a Maxim that says "Stop
    Selling As Soon As You Know The Sale Is Made" It comes with a warning and the warning is to sales folk who don't believe in maxims….."If You Do
    Keep The Clap Trap Up, You Run A Very Big Risk Of Talking Your Buyer Back
    Into A Lead". This means BUYERS DON'T WANT MORE INFO. All they want is A sale to Occur and gthen get their goods and get on their way. Your Job is to make sure NOTHING EVER gets in the way. Give them all the brochures and after salles BS after know the bak The Bank says "Approved".

    Now ask yourself this: If a website provides research and research gives options Responsive sites put buyers in harms way…and that's because thy are not purpose written sites.

    Still Responsive is better better than nothing at all…

    Now I'm appealing to a Responsive site owner's sense of logic. Does it really make any sense at all to bust your arse doing all this stuff and then cop out just prior to making a special appeal to the best buyers and the most prolific buyers to ever emerge from the data mines?

    My name servers haven't seeded yet, Ill let you know the result when they do. Once again thanks for your help over the weekend It is very much appreciated

    THKS
