Hello,
I’m currently using the video background hero image on my site.
My University web team has informed me that to be completely accessible and comply with ADA, I need to have a way to pause the video background. Preferably by just a mouse click or something in that nature.
1) Is this a feature (guessing not)? or
2) can this be custom implemented by myself or
3) can this be a feature request?

Hi Cbill,
1. No, not currently no.
2. If you’re familiar with JavaScript, yes, you could do this.
3. I’ve logged this as a feature request.
Can you please link me to the exact section of the standard? This should help the developers get a better idea of how to implement something like this.
Hi Alex,
From my web developer re: accessibility standards for videos and background videos:
Begin forwarded message:
https://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/time-limits-pause.html
This applies to background video as well
