Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting :: (T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM) in /home/irenecelcer/public_html/wp-content/plugins/siteorigin-panels/siteorigin-panels.php on line 70
The above error is all of a sudden, out of the blue, after MONTHS (some years) of sites I built for clients working fine, now appearing.
Those pages have all crashed and I’m seeing the following error message.
Please advise asap.
Thanks.
Hi Vanessa,
We’re really sorry about this!

This issue is occurring due to your website using an older version of PHP, pre 5.6. We’ve logged this issue and will release a fix asap. In the meantime, you can avoid this issue by either upgrading PHP (you’ll need to reach out to your hosting provider about this – you want to upgrade to at least 5.6) or manually uninstall SiteOrigin Page Builder and then reinstall it.

For the latter, if you’re unfamiliar with FTP, you’ll need to reach out to your hosting provider for assistance. If you are familiar with FTP, please connect to your website and navigate to wp-content/plugins, delete siteorigin-panels. You’ll be able to access your website now, please open your website and navigate to WP AdminPluginsAdd New. Search for and install SiteOrigin Page Builder.
HUGE thanks, Alex! Worked like a charm! :)
Hi Vanessa,
Really sorry about this whole issue! If you downgraded, this issue will be fixed shortly so you’ll be able to update again shortly. Definitely consider upgrading to PHP 7 as it’ll result in better performances and better overall stability with plugins and themes.
Totally agree! I’m running app compatibility scans now on all the sites that crashed today to see how much I can upgrade their PHP versions. Meanwhile, I’ll stay tuned on the SB upgrade because I did the downgrade option. :)
Thanks again! No worries. Shit happens. The page builder app is awesome! Still love you guys!
Hi Vanessa,
Great to hear! :)
We’ve released the update for SiteOrigin Page Builder, 2.8.1, that contains a fix for this issue.
Thank you for your kind words! :)
