We have an issue where pages have been reverting to the editor, when reverting back they obviously lose all their content.
This seems to be occurring after a database migration (using duplicator), that itself lost a few of the pages this way. We’ve tried
– Recreating the migration (numerous times)
– Disabling all plug ins except for SO
We are on Version 4.5.3, with page builder version 2.4.10.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Hi Chloe,
That’s odd. Did you make any adjustments to your Duplicator settings during the migration? The most common issue I’ve seen is that you shouldn’t touch the installer duplicator settings – let Duplicator handle that for you automatically.
No its a completely vanilla install. The only area I do anything is setting up the database – media temple doesn’t allow third party database set up, so I create a new database and put logins into the installer, but it all checks out ok. When I look at cPanel it seems like the database doesn’t get set up properly, and I’ve seen this issue on the forums. Is there perhaps an issue with media temple? I’m really stuck here, we’ve got a great website locked in a computer. If you can give me any suggestions to debug, or try that would be great.
Hi Chloe,
Very sorry for the delay.
There are no reported issues with Media Temple as far as I know of.
So, to clarify, you do not get FTP access then? That’s odd. I would recommend contacting Media Temple to see if it’s possible to do a full migration (files and database) via a more direct method – such as FTP.
So the issue here is whatever tool you use to migrate the data will need to support serialized data. If it doesn’t, the data won’t be processed correctly and thus won’t work. Ideally, ask if they have a tool or a recommended plugin that supports that while you’re contacting them also.
