Hello, I made a website using the Vantage theme, first creating a child theme, and all of a sudden my pages no longer show, so that’s about 95% of my site gone invisible. You can check on www.ncstables.be (The posts are still showing) Even the preview of a page in the manager doesn’t show the page. Where the page should appear, there’s a blank page with an invitation to start creating a post. Could you please help me? My site is pretty empty right now! Thanks a lot!
Hi, when you move to a child theme the theme slug changes. This means that your Customizer settings reset. Here is a blog post to help with migrating Customizer settings from the parent to the child: https://purothemes.com/customizer-settings-export-import/
Unless I read your post incorrectly. Did you just activate a child theme recently?
First thing I did a few months ago, when I started developing my site, was make a child theme. I did all my customisation on the child theme, never worked with the parent theme. So, no I did not recently activate a child theme
Does that still mean I can go ahead with the solution you proposed?
If you’ve setup all of your theme settings in the parent theme and not with the child theme activated, those settings won’t automatically carry over to the child theme. Your pages should still be published under Pages in WordPress, regardless of the theme activated. For sure, if you want to migrate all of your Customizer settings from the parent to the child, try the solution I linked to above.
I’ve set up all of my theme settings in the child theme which was activated right from the start. I did not touch the theme settings in the parent theme. So what do I do? Is this still the way to make my pages visible again?
In that case, sorry, I misunderstood the issue. Please, try running a plugin conflict test. If you’re using a caching plugin, remember to clear its cache before deactivating.
This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if the issue is resolved?
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
Okay, thanks a lot! I will test this out and keep you posted.
Thanks, let us know how it goes.
Nailed it! I deactivated a (unused) multilingual plugin and my pages are showing again. Big relief. I will have to find another plugin for my multilanguage site but that’s a problem I can solve when I’ve got more time. Thanks for your useful advice!
Super, glad to hear you’ve made progress. We usually recommend using Polylang. It’s free and works with our Page Builder plugin.
