Pages I built with SiteOrigin won’t load

Hello!

I love this page builder, but it’s not working right. I built several pages for my web site, and sometimes they load totally crazy, like, photos that are supposed to be small being giant and blurry, or won’t load, or the Hero images won’t load. I thought maybe it was my computer, so I had my husband pull it up on his PC at work and it wasn’t loading right, and I had my assistant pull up the pages at her house and it’s not loading right. All the pages I’ve designed have a problem when I’m trying to just look at them like a client would in a browser. I’ve tried all the different browsers and it’s not working. Here are the pages I’m having issues with:

My home page: http://dawnkellyphotography.com/ (Which is a huge problem)

http://dawnkellyphotography.com/elopement-guide/

http://dawnkellyphotography.com/modesto-boudoir-photographer/

The pages load wrong and if I hit F5, they load up fine. But people who are looking at my web site on a PC, it’s probably not loading right for them.

I hope I explained this well. Please let me know if you have questions or if you need my login info.

Thanks so much!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dawn,

    This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

    If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

    Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

    If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

    We’ve tried everything you suggested and I’m still having problems. When I changed themes it made it even worse. It’s hard because it happens intermittently, so we can’t pinpoint what’s happening. Sometimes it comes up fine, other times, the Hero images won’t show up. If they don’t show up, I can hit F5 and the page will show up as it should.

    When I changed to the SiteOrigin theme, some of my pages I created with the page builder just don’t show up at all. There’s a link to it, but it’s blank.

    What do we do next?

    Thanks!

    It’s still not working. The problem is, the Hero images won’t load. Here’s one of my pages:

    http://dawnkellyphotography.com/modesto-boudoir-photographer/

    When you first bring it up, Hero images won’t load. If you refresh, they show up, and then you can go back to that page and they’ll show up. What do I do next?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dawn,

    Sorry! I didn’t receive your previous reply for whatever reason. :S

    I just took a look and the hero images loaded for me without issue. I tried serval reloads – at least a dozen, and a few different browsers and it continued to work without issue for me.

    Regardless of the above, I suspect I know what’s going on. The image used in the hero widget is 1.2MB which is likely why you’re not seeing it at first. In all likelihood, if you would give it a while it would likely show without issue.

    Please try changing to a different image temporarily or compressing the image. Ideally it shouldn’t be bigger than 400KB.

    Thanks Alex! I will shrink that image for sure. I also have 4 small Hero images towards the bottom of the page under “Explore my boudoir sessions,” which aren’t loading either. My photographer friend in AZ tried desktop and mobile, and the mobile isn’t loading. Can you please try pulling it up on mobile?? Sorry, I know it’s a holiday week, but I’m trying to get everything done before I leave tomorrow night.

    Thank you!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dawn,

    I checked those hero widgets during my initial test – they worked for me.
    Just checked them on mobile – I was able to load them without issue also. :/

    Hm. Try adding the following CSS to AppearanceCustom CSS:

    .sow-slider-image {
    	background: transparent !important;
    }

    You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.

    Does that help at all? If it doesn’t, try navigating to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the Widget tab. Untick “Add Widget Class”. Does that help?

    My friend and I did some troubleshooting and got it to work! It was a problem in my menus. Instead of pointing the menu button directly to the page, I made it a custom link. I forgot that the mobile menu was different than the desktop menu. So I think that’s why it’s working. I figured it out because when I sent her a link, she could click on it and it worked, but when she tried to go to it from my menu, it didn’t.

    SO, if anyone else has issues, they can try that. I’m going to keep the info you gave me above in case I run into it again, but it seems to be working now! SORRY! I’m SO IT illiterate. THANK YOU!!!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dawn,

    Ah. That explains why I couldn’t replicate it – I didn’t use the menu at all.

    Glad you managed to figure out the issue mate. :)
