Hi again,
I recently noticed an issue with Pagebuilder, whenever I edit widgets (by clicking the ‘edit’ button on the page builder layout’ I just get the widget box appear and the loading icon. Even after waiting 10minutes its still loading.
This issue used to happen sporadically, sometimes taking time to load and sometimes loading instantly, but now it is not loading at all.
Is there any thoughts on how to fix this
Update.
This happens for all widgets in page builder across all page types (Apperance > Homepage, Normal page editing and Live Preview)
It also happens when adding a new widget to a page. I have tried on a different website with the exact same wordpress installation and not getting the same issue.
Hi Rhys
This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
I have tried disabling and re-enabling all plugins but the issue is still there.
There is a slight work around which seems to work, if you ‘duplicate’ a widget and then edit the new duplicate it loads quicker (still a delay of >5 seconds), but the original widget still doesn’t load. Its a temporary work around though I guess.
Could this be an issue with the DB connection? I have had some times before where connection is lost whilst editing a page. Or alternatively an issue with admin-ajax.php as I have had issues with this slowing the website down as well.
Both of these issues have only happened on this version of the website, the one with the slow/non loading pagebuilder widgets. So could it be a server issue perhaps..
The really important part of the plugin test is: Did the problem resolve when all non-SiteOrigin plugins were de-activated? If the problem didn’t resolve then the test has failed and you can re-activate all plugins at once. Can you confirm this for me please?
We can help look into other options once we have the above known for sure.
The problem did not change whether the plugins were active or not. The problem persists even when the non-site origin plugins were deactivated.
The only change that did happen was when the admin-ajax was fixed, after this the widget loads, but it still takes 5-10 seconds – whilst previously it was not loading at all.
Thanks for the feedback. Taking another look now. Will report back :)
Thanks again for the details. Greg and I aren’t quite sure what’s up. Any chance hosting performance is an issue. Where is the site hosted?
Hi,
I have the same issue when I want to Customize (Appearance->Customize), it just doesn’t load, though it seems as if it is loading but nothing happens, it’s stuck. I just updated to Wp 4.3, this might be of importance.

Hi Rhys
Awesome, thanks for doing that testing for us. We don’t yet have a min server spec we can provide. I chatted to Greg about this this morning and it’s definitely something we’ll figure out in the coming months. Sorry we don’t have any figures for you right now. Page Builder is demanding so a decent hosting setup is required for it to run smoothly. Going on everything I’ve heard, Bluehost sounds like a solid choice.
All the best :)
Hi,
There is a issue with Pagebuilder, whenever I edit widgets (by clicking the ‘edit’ button on the page builder layout’ I just get the widget box appear and the loading icon.Is this a host issue? My host is plesk web host and when I ask them about this issue they reply me like this “We meant what PHP functions or module need to be enabled? Or what library is this plugin is using in order to make it run?”.Could you please help me to find this issue.
Hi shilpa
This can be a PHP memory shortage issue or a plugin conflict issue. Start with the plugin conflict test:
This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
