PageBuilder “Revert to Editor” tab overlaps “Visual, Text” tab in Clasiceditor

Hello,

Since some time a “Revert to Editor” tab button overlaps “Visual, Text and Page Builder” tab buttons in Clasic editor witch prohibits viewing the html text if needed. This occurs only on “Page Builder” structured pages.
When hit “Revert to Editor” tab, it switches editor to Gutenberg !
Why is this hapening ?
Any way to restore previous behaviour Clasic editor with usual “Visual, Text and Page Builder” tabs ?

Thanks

JP F

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi JP

    Thanks for getting in touch.

To maintain the Classic Editor when the page is not loading Page Builder, please, consider installing the Classic Editor plugin from PluginsAdd New. I’m unable to recreate the button overlap issue. Please, try checking for a working baseline. Does the issue persist if you temporarily deactivate all plugins except for Page Builder?

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your reply.

I am using “Clasic Editor” ()from WordPress Contributors) plugins since many years associated with “Page Builder”.
At the moment I use last version of WordPress 6.1.1.

When only “Clasic Editor” is activated,
I only check the “Add a new page” the “Visual, Text” are missing.
If I edit an existing “Page Builder” created page, but with “Page Builder” deactivated same display (in html obviously).
As soon I activate “Page Builder” the “Revert to Editor” button appeears in spite of the cross “disable distraction”.

When only “Page Builder” is activated,
I only check the “Add a new page”, classic editor is used with following top message :
“”This post type is set to use the Classic Editor by default for new posts. If you’d like to change this to the Block Editor, please go to Page Builder Settings and disable Use Classic Editor for New Posts.””
because I activate this option in Page builder, and the “Revert to Editor” button appeears.

When both “Clasic Editor” and “Page Builder” are activated,
Same situation as when only “Page Builder” is activated.

So I fear the “Revert to Editor” button is highly related to “Page Builder” plugin.
And the lost of “Visual, Text” buttons is highly related to “Clasic Editor” plugin on WordPress 6.1.1.

Hope all this will help you test what I experience.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi JP

    Thanks for your detailed feedback.

The Visual/Text/Page Builder tabs seem to be working normally in our demo installation using Classic Editor 1.6.2, which looks to be the latest version.

Does the issue persist if you temporarily activate a default theme like Twenty Nineteen and temporarily deactivate all plugins except for the Classic Editor plugin?

    Hello,

I did deactivate all plugins but “Classic editor” which i did deinstall and reinstall.

    Same issue.

I did not try with a default theme, what if the site crashes ? How to recover ?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi JP

At most, changing themes might remove your menu and widget assignments. To correct that after switching back to your theme (if this issue has occurred), navigate to AppearanceMenusMenu Locations to reassign your menus to the correct locations and AppearanceWidgetsInactive Widgets to put your widgets back in the correct sidebar areas.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks, JP.

    – Please try reinstalling Page Builder just to rule that out.

    – Please try opening the browser console as follows: https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis. If there are errors in red text, please, send a screenshot as you have been doing using Snipboard.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. I haven’t encountered this situation before. If you have a bit of a technical background you could add to your wp-config.php file in your WordPress root:

    define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
    define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );

Once added, recreate the issue and then check the /wp-content/ folder on your server. If there are PHP errors a debug.log file will be added.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks, understood.

Do you perhaps have access to your WordPress root folder via FTP or Hosting File Manager? If so, you might consider enabling debugging as described above. That will allow us to check for PHP errors.

The issue is located in the div class=”wp-editor-tabs”

On working/normal configuration (another site) there is 3 buttons set (visual text and pagebuilder)
    button type=”button” id=”content-tmce” class=”wp-switch-editor switch-tmce” data-wp-editor-id=”content” Visuel /button

    button type=”button” id=”content-panels” class=”hide-if-no-js wp-switch-editor switch-panels” Page Builder /button
    /div

in the not working configuration there is only 1 button set (pagebuilder)

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi JP

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    Private Snippet

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and Private Snippet for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi JP

    Yes issue continue.
The iamges you show have been taken on my site ?

  23. 1 year, 7 months ago Jp FOL

I just discover issue is related to the User language option set to French.
When set to English it works correctly.

  24. 1 year, 7 months ago Jp FOL

When set to default site language it works also.
Issue only exist when user language forced to French.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi JP

Thanks for your investigation into the issue. I think I understand, but just so I’m 100% certain, please, could you confirm how the user language is switched from EN to FR?

    Hi, I Work Here

(And yes, the screenshots are from your site – thanks!)

  27. 1 year, 7 months ago Jp FOL

I did force the user language in the user profile.
As yours when created, I did set it to English, this did trigger me to recheck it.
Thanks anyway you did provide me the clue.

Now root cause: Would you have an idea why this French language default by user, can generate such issue ?

  28. 1 year, 7 months ago Jp FOL

By the way when setting it back to french, it works now.
Means something else is modified/set when changing the User Language …

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve tried replicating the issue by switching my local account to French. At the moment, I’m unsure what happened. If the issue is now resolved we could perhaps move on and revisit the investigation if the issue re-occurs. Apologies for the hassle.
