Pagebuilder randomly reverting to older layout versions

By ReeX, 8 years ago. Last reply by ReeX, 8 years ago.

I am quite sure this beheaviour occured more than once: I open a page for editing and the content has reverted to an older version of the layout.

I wonder if this is by design or it is a bug…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi ReeX,

I can assure you this isn’t by design. This also isn’t a widespread issue so it’s quite hard to work out why this is happening. It does, however, sound like it a plugin conflict issue which is likely going to be hard to test unless you can reliably get it to revert to previous versions.

Regardless, can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

This happened a few times so it would be very difficult to spot. Is there a chance WP would try to load an older revision under unknown circumstances?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi ReeX,

No. If that was happening it would be a widespread issue.

It is however possible your server is. Are you using a server-side (as in, NOT plugin based) cache like Varnish? Not sure?

    Are you using shared hosting?

    • Yes?
      • You don’t have a server side cache.
    • No?
      • Check with your host.

This is really hard to debug so progress in resolving this issue will be slow unless a reliable manner to replicate it can be worked out. :(

The development is running locally on WAMP with no cache enabled

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi ReeX,

Well, in that case, WAMP isn’t the issue as I use that locally also.

Could you send me a screenshot of your plugins page? I might be able to spot a problematic plugin.

    Here: alt

In your opinion are there too many plugins?

The above is unreadable, try this https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_tdQtJzbcjAa2tBRlRNUGhVZEE

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi ReeX,

I don’t see any problematic plugins, but I’m not familiar with all of your plugins. You should still try a plugin conflict test.

Some of your plugins can be removed but I wouldn’t worry about removing things before you’re closer to releasing it as the bulk of the things I would remove are admin related.

Unrelated: I’ve heard that the Essential Grid widget doesn’t work in Page Builder; only the shortcode does. Could you confirm this?

Yes, since the latest release the essential grid widget is ill behaved. Also The Events Calendar widget is not working as expected…
