PageBuilder doesn’t show Editor when working in PB Widgets

By jben, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

Hi,

since update of WP on 4.7.3 (may be earlier) Page Builder doesn’t show the visual editor in the right way (see screenshot). Also I can’t save. Changes are not saved. Wp Version 4.7.3, GeneratePress Theme (newest), PageBuilder v2.4.5, SiteOrigin Widgets v1.8.1, TinyMCE Advanced v.4.4.3, Black Studio MCE v2.3.1.
I have the slight suspicion, that it may have to do with some MCE malfunction but no idea how to encircle that.
Since I have a multisite installation, the “deactivate all plugins and test them one by one” isn’t the best idea…

Does anyone have an idea how to stob the bug?

PS I have also SiteOrigin Widgets by wpinked running, but this doesnt’ seem to cuase the bug.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jben,

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

As you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

    wasn’t inactive meanwhile ;-)
But the issue is still “on”. Seems more to be a problem with WordPress visual editor – or a combination. Some users on WordPRess forum report similar issues. Actually I have both editors active: TinyMCE Advanved and Black Studio Tiny MCE, as recommended for Page Builder. I tried to deactivate one of them and both – no effect.

    Problem resolved! :-)

For security reasons I generated a new super admin but failed to fill in a nickname. So when I checked the box “Beim Schreiben den visuellen Editor nicht benutzen” (english like: Do not use the visual editor when writing) in profile (must be unchecked) I noticed that no nickname was specified. After doing that – voilá … everytghing is fine.

So: check your nickname box in user profile!
