Pagebuilder – cannot edit button widgets

Hi Site Origin

I can set up a button
I can save a button
I can view the button ‘live’ on the site
– but if cannot then go back and edit the button

The edit panel shows a circling graphic :

This persists with no conclusion.

———————-

I’m using Understrap (0.6.2) as a theme with no plugins (just sitebuilder 2.5.8 and widgets bundle 1.9.3)
I’m using WP 4.8
I’m working via a iMac (10.12) using a Chrome (59) browser

I have switched the theme to Twenty sixteen and Twenty fifteen and the issue remains.

Can you throw any insight onto this issue?

regards
Howard

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Howard,

Can you please replicate this issue and then could you please send me the contents of your console? Please refer to this guide on how to access your browser console.

Does this issue only happen with the SiteOrigin Button Widget?

    Hi Alex

no problem – see attached: Console screen grab
This appears to only happen happen with the ‘Button’. I’ve checked out the image slider and the image addon and these both work fine.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Howard,

    Thanks.

Would it be possible for you to send me an export a button widget you’re having issues? To do this open up the page with the widget and click Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

    Hi Alex

Apologies for the tardy reply. But I have tried and tried. The SiteOrigin Button is just not working. I have a movie showing the button added to a page – fully editable – until you update the page – then the button editing fails.

I have also tried the layout > export feature – the download button does nothing
    – this is also on the movie see : https://u.teknik.io/lBUpr.mov

I have switched to other themes (twentyseventeen) … no joy
I have switched off all plugins … no joy

The button is visible on the site ( https://hwb-demo.co.uk/demo1/)
    – but once the page has been edited/updated
    – then button can no longer be accessed or edited

My server is running php 5.3.8 and the server API is Litespeed.

Any assistance would be very grateful.

    regards
    Howard

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Howard,

Thanks. At this point, I suspect your server is rejecting the data.

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

Please feel free to experiment with post=6 (Direct Bursary) page.

I have worked with changing memory allocated to WP and the PHP has been rasied to 7.1. We have even removed MOD-Security for a quick test and none of these made any affect.

Is it possible to private message this thread – as we may be discussing sensitive details?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Howard,

Do you have Wordfence installed on the parent install (the install at the base of the domain)? I ask as that’s what is rejecting the data. I know it may sound odd but that plugin will set itself up to handle subdirectories in general which is why it’s affecting the subdirectory install even though it’s not directly installed there.

Go to the affected widget and open it up, don’t get “blocked” yet. Instead, open up another tab on on the main install and navigate to WP AdminWordFenceLive Traffic and filter it by blocked traffic. Then make an adjustment to your button widget and you’ll get blocked. Go back to the Wordfence tab and press the whitelist param from Firewall button. This is 100% safe as the contents of the field are not at all close to what would be required for an XSS attack. (it’s really quite odd it would even suggest such a thing…).

Please note that it’s unfortunately, not possible to make this conversation private and continue it at the same time. Sorry mate.

    Hi Alex

That is great – i get it now.

I have resolved the issue by white listing the activity – it all makes sense.

    many thanks
    :)

    regards
    Howard
