I recently migrated a site — where the Page Builder plugin was working fine — to another web host. I changed my host file to the ‘new’ site so that I could test and verify that everything was still working as expected *before* I made any DNS changes. Unfortunately I got the WordPress white screen of death so I disabled all plugins (via database); the site loaded so I went to reactivate the plugins that I had previously disabled (I made a copy of the active_plugins string). I had no problems re-enabling the plugins until I got to the site builder. When I tried to activate, I received the error “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.” That’s it, nothing else displays *what* the actual error is.
The plugin was calling for an update (even in it’s deactivated state, so I updated to 2.6.5) — still no luck. I even downloaded plugin from WordPress.org, removed the plugin folder via FTP and installed from the plugin files. Still no luck. I am continuing to receive the “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.” but no indication what the fatal error is.
Hi Erica,
To clarify, did you change the domain or anything like that?
Are you able to activate SiteOrigin Page Builder when its the only plugin activated (in other words, all other plugins are disabled)? If that doesn’t work/help, please enable WP_DEBUG which is possible by editing wp-config.php. This will allow us to see what the actual error message is.
Hi, Alex!
Thanks for getting back to me, but I was able to resolve the issue. I actually processed as you suggested — activating the Page Builder plugin first and then the remaining plugins. I was already in debug mode, which is why I thought it was so odd not seeing any actual error messages.
Hi Erica,
Great to hear! :)
Out of interest, can you please elaborate on what the issue was?
