Page Updates Not Working

Hi All,

Total WP novice, here, working on rebuilding my site on a staging server. I’m using the Zer0 theme, which came with Page Builder, and I’ve got a weird problem:

When I try to change any of the demo content to my own content in a page and update it, no changes show up on the live site. I’ve gone through checking plugins, and it looks like Page Builder is the issue–when it’s deactivated, my content is uploaded, but I simultaneously lose the other coding that makes the page look so nice. So I’m in a catch 22 where I need the page builder (the setup of these pages is why I bought the theme–I’m not a coder!) but page builder prevents me from updating the content.

I’ve checked other threads and seen some things about “caching plugins,” but I’ve checked all the plugins one by one and it’s just Page Builder that’s preventing the content from updating.

Additionally, I don’t know if this is the theme or of this is page builder, but problem #2 that I’m running into is that I have to go into Appearance > Customize to set my landing page, but I can only indicate a static page, and no subsequent page or it defaults to this empty page with the header BLOG at the top. Nothing I’m doing within the actual pages section (parents, order, etc.) is allowing me to post anything other than the landing page I’ve created. Again–this could be unrelated to page builder, but in case it isn’t, just thought I’d ask.

I’m desperate for help! Thanks in advance for any thoughts or feedback!

-Nikki

    Hi Nikki,

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

Regarding your second issue. In WordPress the default homepage will be a recent posts page. I’m not sure how this theme handles it but if you post a few posts they should show up on the homepage.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nikki,

Preface: I’m not the most familiar with your themes setup nor the widgets and layouts it includes. You may be better of asking the theme developer for support.

Could you link me to the page without the format present? I can’t seem to see it by navigating your website. Also, would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

As for your second question. Ignore my previous response – I misunderstood your question. I’m not too sure understand the question but based on what I do – it’s very unlikely that it’s related to SiteOrigin Page Builder.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nikki,

That’s sadly the issue. :( I wasn’t aware of this theme nor that they had forked SiteOrigin Page Builder (a version based on our code but not actively developed by us) for it. Your right though. They seem to have bundled the code directly into the base plugins (which is not recommended) rather than creating a developer plugin that interfaced with SiteOrigin Page Builder. So by changing the plugins to the main versions you will lose all of the things you wanted.

The version that the fork is based on is really quite old so chances are they haven’t added any WordPress compatibility patches. :( Your only solution to this problem would be to downgrade WordPress which is obviously not recommended. I would recommend contacting the theme developers and reporting this issue as it’s quite a large one.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
