Page updates not saved

Updating pages built with PageBuilder doesn’t work.

I try editing a page using Pages – Edit and change any content e.g. the text of an OtS Icon Block from OLDTEXT to NEWTEXT. Reopening the OtS Icon Block in the page editor shows NEWTEXT as expected. However as soon as I publish the changes of the page the change is gone. The change doesn’t show up on the published page (still shows OLDTEXT). The change also doesn’t show up when reopening e.g. the OtS Icon Block in the page editor (it shows OLDTEXT instead of NEWTEXT).

However any changes I apply using the Live Editor can be persisted / published without any problems and also show up in the Page Builder History.

Meanwhile I found out that even when using Live Editor updating the page is buggy. Making a change to one part of the page and publishing it works.

Then updating the page again at another part of the page updates this part as well but silently reverts previous changes of other parts of the page to their old state.

    Is this a known bug?
I am running the most recent version of Page Builder and am also using the Off the Shelf theme which provides some additional Page Builder widgets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as unfortunately updating the page currently doesn’t work reliably at all.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sascha,

Unfortunately, we can’t seem to replicate the described issue you’re having with the Live Editor. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If the above doesn’t help, can you please try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

I think I’m getting closer to the solution:

After using the Live Editor I always returned to the normal page editor and pressed the “Update” button to publish the new revision. I now recognized that doing this increases the revision counter by 2 instead of 1. Reverting to the previous revision (using the ‘view revisions’ history) I was able to return to the previous revision.

Is it possible that leaving the live editor doesn’t update the contents shown in the “normal” page editor so that pressing “Update” overwrites the most recent changes with the outdated information of the previous revision?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sascha,

The Live Editor doesn’t save (it uses previews to preview your changes) and your changes will only be saved when you save the page. I’m unsure why 2 revisions are present rather than 1 but I suspect that may be as a result of WordPress autosaving.

To confirm, did you run a plugin conflict test?
