page margin issues (Left, Right, Bottom)

Dear Sir/Ma’am,

I am using Vantage with Page Builder. We recently started to redesign our site.

we cannot get our wrappers to go full width. We always have a large margin on the left and right. Also for some strange reason the footer has large margins on the left, right, and bottom only on the home page.

So our wrappers will not go full width without margins to the left and right on any page, using page builder or not.

And the footer will not go full width left and right without margins left, right, and bottom.

No issue with the masthead area, everything good there at the moment.

I have tried adjustments to

.layout-full .panel-row-style

and

.panel-grid-cell

With .panel-grid-cell I could move the margin for top and bottom but left and right had no effect.

I’m not sure if this issue was in the site prior to the start of the redesign. We never had items strech the full screen other than the header, footer, and slider.

Thank you for your help!

    Well actually there is one thing in the header (masthead) area you could help me with.

    I want to add some custom text and a small picture on the right side under the google translator and move the translator up.

    If you have an email address I’ll send you a sample html page of the prototype layout.

    The fist issues I have solved using the following CSS if anyone runs into this issue.

    1. Full width backround color wrapper for an entity:

    #contentwrapper .fullgray {
    padding:20px 3000px 60px 3000px;
    background: #ebebeb;
    width:100%;
    margin:-35px -3000px 0 -3000px;
    float:left;
    }

    #contentwrapper .fullgray2 {
    padding:20px 3000px 20px 3000px;
    background:#ebebeb;
    width:100%;
    float:left;
    margin:0 -3000px 0 -3000px;
    }

    2. Full width background color wrapper for footer and removal of white margin at bottom of home page:

    #footer {
    font-size:12px;
    background:#373737;
    overflow:hidden;
    clear:both;
    padding:20px 3000px 0 3000px;
    margin:0 -3000px -70px -3000px;
    }

    However I could still use your assistance with my second enquiry.

    Regards,

    Bruce

    Hi Bruce

    As you’ve seen, the header, site body and footer of Vantage are constrained in both the box layout and the full width layout. The full width layout pushes the slider 100% width by inserting it after the header div and before the main div, so there is no constraint. Page Builder rows aren’t capable of going full width. The wide grey layout runs a background full width, but as you’ve seen with the margins, it’s done using some CSS trickery. All of the above is basically a limitation of the design.

    You have a few options with the header. What I think you should try is this.

    Add your logo via Theme Settings, but only the logo.
    Add your awards, Trip Advisor etc, via Appearance > Widgets: Header, use the Visual Editor widget for ease there: http://wordpress.org/plugins/black-studio-tinymce-widget/. Then use another Visual Editor widget in HTML view to add the Google Translator div after that and then perhaps a third widget for your text.
