I’ve tried a lot of things but can’t seem to figure out the best way to do this. I would like to have a different format for the Home Page, Archive Pages, and individual Blog posts.
If I set the Static Home Page to “Home” with a template of “Full Page Width” I can control very nicely where everything lays out.
I have menu options that go to different category archives. For example I have a menu set to display the category archive for “Category1”. This page is displayed using a standard layout with the default widgets from the widget page in the side bar. What I’d like to do is just use the full page width and have a content area where the blog posts go (like a blank column in page builder) and then format other page contents in the other columns/ rows.
Can this only be accomplished using a category plugin and directing the menu option to a specific page? I have a template setup for “Posts” but it seems to ignore that.
Hi Rob
We could try creating custom category page layouts using Page Builder and the Post Loop (PB) widget.
1. Create a new page for the category.
2. Set the page template to Full Width or as required.
3. Click over to the Page Builder tab after Visual and Text, remember once you work in Page Builder on a given page you should only edit that content in Page Builder.
4. Insert the Post Loop (PB) widget.
5. In the Additional field of the Post Loop (PB) widget insert an argument as follows:
Where x is the category ID of the posts you want to pull. You can find the category ID by going to Posts > Categories, clicking on the category in question and checking the url for the ID.
Let me know how that goes.
