This problem just occurred about a week ago. I am running WP v4.7.3 and Page Builder v2.4.25. When I go to a page and click on the visual editor to edit content, the editor pulls up with no content inside, but if I view my site it’s all still there. I have been searching for an answer and have tried changing the theme, deactivating all plugins and reactivating them one at a time, I tried putting the WP-DEBUG on and saw nothing, and I uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin.
I have seen that others, like me, are having trouble with Black Studio TinyMCE plugin and Page Builder working together. I uninstalled and reinstalled that plugin too.
Is this something that happened in an update? I need a fix so I can get working on my site again, I’m at a complete standstill. I’m not a coder and still fairly new to WP, so if anyone can break it down simply for me, I’d appreciate it.

So, to clarify, you still see the editor but nothing appears in the editor widget? Are you missing buttons? If so, I suspect this is a semi-common update issue with WordPress. Please follow the suggestions outlined in this article, specifically the last one.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve had other issues at work with my internet so it’s taken a while to get back to this. I did look at the article and have done everything on that list and it’s still not working. I can see all the buttons in the visual editor, just not anything I’ve typed in for content.
I’ve looked at lots of forums for help and still nothing is working. I’m considering reloading a saved copy and just redoing the work because I need to get on with building my site. I haven’t tried reinstalling the newest version of WP so that’s my next step.
If anyone has any more ideas, I’d be glad to try them. Thanks for the help.

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? Oh, and to clarify, is this issue happening for a specific page or for all pages?

I set you up with an admin so you can see what’s going on. I believe it is all the pages that aren’t working with Page Builder, but I haven’t clicked into all of them. I found a couple that I can use the visual editor, but when I switch to Page Builder I can’t see content anymore. When you get in, just go to the pages and try to get in to edit and you’ll see what it’s doing.

This is seriously odd. I’ve literally never seen this happen before so I’m really not too sure what could be causing this issue. Hm. Would it be okay if I make a backup of this website for local testing?
Please note that you should not try and save any pages during this time as it may result in actual data loss rather than just a visibility issue on the backend.

I guess it makes me feel better that I wasn’t missing a simple step to fix this problem. It seems that it came up out of the blue, one day I was fine and the next it was like this, with no changes made. I have not been saving pages for fear of losing things.
Go ahead and make a backup to test. I would love to have you solve this! Thanks for your time and help.

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to replicate this issue off site which leads me to believe your server is rejecting these requests. Can you please get in contact with your hosting provider and ask if you’ve being blocked by anything (specifically mod_security)? If so, can they please whitelist you?

I contacted my hosting provider yesterday to see if they could check on the security settings. I feel like it was not helpful. They whitelisted the mod_security, but told me they could see all the content in my visual editor just fine. I even sent screen shots of what I was getting and the response was basically – I can see it just fine and I don’t know why you can’t – with no suggestions of where to go from there.
Any other ideas? Or do I need to go back to them and push harder? Is it very likely on their end?

I feel like they’re looking at the wrong area as I was definitely able to the same thing as you. Did you try linking them to a specific page for them to check?
Semi-related, but just to confirm, when you did the initial plugin conflict test, only SiteOrigin Page Builder and Black Studio TinyMCE Widget were the active plugins at the time, right? No other plugin was active, right?

I finally got back to this today and decided to re-try deactivating plugins. I started with just PageBuilder and Black Studio and it worked! I was able to add back in everything else I needed and I had no problems. I’m not sure if this is something my host site did or not, but I’m back in business.
