Page Builder Update Broke My Text Editor

I see I’m not the only one experiencing this. I just installed your PB update and now I can’t see the text or the formatting buttons in my text editor. Instead of deactivating all of my other plug-ins, I deactivated PB and everything works just fine now. Of course that’s not acceptable. I tried editing the wp-config.php file, but that didn’t work.

I’m done building my site. I’m just adding and editing posts now. So, if I no longer need to keep the plug-in activated, I’m cool with that.

    Actually, it seems I DO need PB activated. Otherwise, my sidebar widgets don’t display. :(

      Please let me know if you get a fix on this. I was building a site for a company and now I can’t edit it anymore in the text editor. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling and uploading both ways. But no help. Thanks.

    Hi Stef

    We’re busy looking at this issue and we’re hoping to get a fix done as soon as we can figure out what’s causing it.

    Can you check if you’re getting any Javascript errors on your pages? This would be a huge help in figuring out what the problem is.

    I have the same problem. With PB Activated I do not see any editing buttons. With PB deactivated, I can see the buttons.

    • Greg Priday Staff

      Hi Ira – can you also check for any Javascript/Console errors. As soon as we can figure out the root of this problem, we’ll be able to fix it.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /hermes/bosoraweb064/b267/ipg.goshencabins/goshencabins/wp-content/plugins/siteorigin-panels/tpl/js-templates.php on line 110

    • Greg Priday Staff

      Hi Kurt. That’s a different issue to what people on this thread are getting. If you start a new thread we’ll be able to help you there.

      Page: New Thread

      If you check our GitHub page – we have a fix that sorts out the parse error issue. It was coming up on some server configurations. https://github.com/siteorigin/siteorigin-panels

    I got TONS of errors with WordPress itself, and SiteOrigin. Specific to SiteOrigin, I have errors in the admin.css file. Lots of “unknown property…declaration dropped” and “error in parsing value…declaration dropped.”

    • Greg Priday Staff

      CSS errors shouldn’t be a problem at this stage, unknown property is related to vendor specific CSS3. Can you see any Javascript specific issues? Thanks for your patience – we’ll get to the bottom soon :)

    this is what was highlighted on ie with f12 and refresh of page line 140

    });
    jQuery(“#social_movecontainer”).sortable();
    jQuery(“.template_entry”).click(function()

    Highlighted red and error

    I can’t which is what’s weird. My Firefox version doesn’t have the option described on the page link you sent. I have Tools -> Web Developer -> Web Console. Even if I click on JS -> Errors, what I posted is all I get. In Chrome I get something totally different, but they’re all CSS errors. I’m not seeing anything with jQuery, etc. Grr…

    Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for me so I can take a look for myself? Just create it for [email protected] – I’ll keep an eye out for the details.

  9. stef2dotoh

    Done. PB is currently activated because as I stated earlier, turning it off disables my sidebar widgets.

    • Greg Priday Staff

      Can you double check that the user you created is an admin user. I think I’m looking in with the details you sent and the account is a standard user so I can’t edit content to see Page Builder.

    • Greg Priday Staff

      Never mind, I found the details you sent. Taking a look now.

  10. stef2dotoh

    And this may be a silly question, but is it not possible to roll back the update and compare the old to the new to isolate what’s causing the problem?

  11. Vicki Dalton

    I would like the old version. I got the new version to show up to do live edits. But Page Builder buttons gone and the visual editor widgets are empty. No text in any of them.

    • Greg Priday Staff

      Hi Vicki – I posted a reply on your thread.

  12. Greg Priday Staff

    stef2dotoh – I had a look and was able to figure out what caused the issue. We’re busy building a fix and will release it shortly – in the next hour. Please keep an eye out for the 2.0.1 update.

  13. stef2dotoh

    Awesome! For free tech support, you guys are great!

  14. stef2dotoh

    Can I delete the admin account?

  15. Greg Priday Staff

    We try our best :) we’re very proud of Page Builder – so we do our best to fix issues when they come up.

    You can delete the account.

  16. stef2dotoh

    Is one of the side effects of this problem being unable to edit the widgets, too? I click on the drop-down and I get nothing.

  17. Andrew Misplon Staff

    Hi stef2dotoh

    Please re-test when 2.0.1 goes live. Hopefully very soon. It will hopefully resolve the last issue you described above.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  18. stef2dotoh

    Yayyyyy!!! It’s working! THANK YOU for such a fast, fantastic response!

  19. Simon Hay

    Hi,

    I am having the same issue, that is the text editing buttons are not visible when I am trying to edit pages in the Visual editor mode.

    Please help!
