Page Builder Post Loop not working after saving/publishing

Hi!

I’m building a site with PB, and I want to create a post loop by its widget. When I add a row freshly into a new page structure, it allows me to click on the “Build Posts Query” button, and lets to set up all properties for a query. After publishing the page, or adding the widget into an already published page, it is not working at all. It shows the post count in red circle, but if I click, it does nothing – just adds a # to the URL.

I have tried:
-Disabling all plugins
-Restarting and trying every browser
-Clearing browser cache

Please help me, what is wrong? :(

Thanks a lot!

I think, it has something to do with the SiteOrigin Widget Bundle, because if I disable it, the Post Loop widget reverts back to some other form, and it seems to work somehow. But we need the Bundle, so…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Chris654,

I suspect there’s an issue with the query you’ve set. Could you please send me an export for the post loop widget? To do this open up the page with the widget, and click prebuilt. Then click import / export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

    Hi Alex!

I have not set any query the first time, because I inserted the widget into a page with other widget areas. I have some posts published, and I have a simple category hierarchy. I just wanted to list posts according to categories, but I can’t do a query. If I create an empty page, then the first time I can set a query in the widget, but after publishing or saving as draft, I cannot modify the query anymore…

So I deleted the page with the widget and recreated it from scratch – and the problem is there again. The same on both sites (local or online)

Another update: If I revert to editor and save the page, then start page builder again, the post loop widget works and a query can be set. But after publish or save, it is not working. Then revert back to text editor, save, and start page builder again, it works again until saved…

    Hi Alex!

I saw you create a post loop now, but if i’m trying to edit that loop, the Build post query button does nothing… I can’t access the query settings. I will try it from my home PC, and saving in other browsers.

Could this be a proxy problem? Because the company hwere I wokr has a proxy server…

Now I tried creating it in Chrome from scratch… same after saving… Before saving it works fine.

Oh and it is not the widget I cannot save, but the page. After I save the page, the widget’s “Build posts query” button stops to work – despite the fact that the post loop is displayed on the page.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Chris,

Oh. Okay so I’m definitely not able to replicate that then. It might be a proxy issue but that seems unlikely. Could you send me the contents of your console after clicking the save button (when not able)? Please follow this guide on how to access your browser console.

    Hi Alex!

I think I found the solution! :) It is a bug indeed. If graphic editor is disabled for a user, then the mentioned problem occurs. I checked your temporary login I gave you and it has graphic editor enabled by default, then checked mine and it was disabled somehow.

So I enabled graphic editor usage to my admin user, went back to any page and voila, the “Build posts query” button works like a charm again. Even after saving or publishing the page.

I don’t know why is it connected, but it is a solution.

You should try it this way, if you can replicate the error! It may worth a check to help others evade this nightmare ;)

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Chris654,

Huh. That’s a weird one. Thank you for finding this. I’ll log it as a bug. It should hopefully be fixed in the near future. It actually causes way more issues than just the post loop so, thanks again, for point this out. :S
