Page Builder plugin stopped working?

I wanted to update some pages on my wordpress website but before doing so I updated all the plugins that required an update. I noticed a bit of text warning me about something like panels.php missing a file or whatever. Unfortunately this message did not show up again so I can’t give you the real text.

I checked the website and noticed that the entire contents of the homepage were missing. I checked Edit>Home Page and the entire entry field was empty. I clicked Page Builder and got a notice that I should install it, but when I do it says

“Destination folder already exists. Private Snippet

Plugin install failed.”

But it’s not in my plugin list.

I don’t really know how to fix this, I don’t know if I can even access the FTP files because all I have is the WordPress login from the client.

I have an old screenshot to show how the homepage USED to look.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Laura,

    :(

I cannot tell you why the update failed, but it did. Sometimes updates in WordPress just fail and when that happens you’re stuck with an incomplete version that typically can’t be used. This being one of those times. You, well you’re going to have to remove the plugin directory manually to resolve this issue. A temporary fix would be to install a renamed version of SiteOrigin Page Builder* but it should be noted that this version will error on update unless you remove the incomplete version.

    * To do this please download SiteOrigin Page Builder. Extract the archive, rename the directory that holds the plugin (siteorigin-panels) to something else and then install that version of the plugin by navigating to WP AdminPluginsAdd new.

    Hi, thanks for your answer

So deleting the following folder Private Snippet completely will give me the opportunity to install the plugin again properly?

In that case I will contact the one with acces to the FTP files and ask him to delete that folder

    Hi Laura,

Yes. Don’t worry – your data will be safe as it’s stored in the database, not the plugin directory. Please note that I’ve edited your posts to remove your system paths.
