Page Builder pages converted to blocks

When I developed my website (cincinnatifriends.org), I created all the pages using Page Builder. Recently, I noticed that some of the pages no longer use Page Builder; they appear to be using blocks, even though we continue to use Classic WordPress. Is there an easy way to restore the affected pages so that they once again use Page Builder? I would hate to have to recreate all the pages again, as I imagine I would have to create new permalinks, fix all the menus that link to those pages, etc.

This did not occur for all the pages, only a subset. Our admin noticed the change 3-4 months ago–perhaps it occurred due to a WordPress upgrade? We did not make this change ourselves.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

P.S. For some reason, my login to SiteOrigin no longer works. I tried to request a new password, but never received it, so I just logged in via Google. However, I would strongly prefer to use my original login. Any thoughts on that would also be welcomed.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sabrina

    Thanks for reaching out.

By default, Page Builder pages should hold onto their format, even without the Classic Editor plugin installed. It’s possible an error occurred causing the pages in question to revert to the Block Editor. Do you currently have the Classic Editor plugin activated in your plugins list?

We’ve recently switched email providers for our transactional emails. If possible, please, try resetting your original account again and let us know how it goes.

Sorry I didn’t respond sooner…perhaps because of the way I had to log in, I didn’t get a notification of your response!

I was not aware of the Classic Editor plug-in, but after I installed that and edited each page that was no longer using Page Builder, the Page Builder tab did appear. I was able to convert everything back simply by clicking that tab, clicking OK at the confirmation prompt, and updating! Whew, what a relief! (I do suspect there was some kind of error somewhere, because about two-thirds of the pages retained their Page Builder layout, while the other third did not.)

The only page that I was hesitant to convert was the page that holds our All-in-One Event Calendar by Time.ly. With that one, when I click the Page Builder tab, I don’t get any confirmation about converting; it just displays the usual buttons for adding a widget, etc. I was afraid if I updated that, I would lose our calendar, so I left that alone. That should be fine, though, since we edit the content using the plug-in itself.

Out of curiosity, what’s the difference between Visual Editor and SiteOrigin Editor? I’m accustomed to using Visual Editor, but the UI looks the same for both.

Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, glad to hear you’re making progress. The Visual Editor widget is added by Black Studio TinyMCE. The SiteOrigin Editor widget is very similar and added by the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.
