Page Builder not working with Elementor

Hi there

I have a page built with the Elementor and the page builder by siteOrigin. Everything looks fine and in the backend everything seems to be normal. But if I actualize a content element in Elementor, the change doesn’t appear on the page. I just added a sentence to a text but it won’t appear. Not even in the preview mode. When I deactivate the plugin “page builder” the change is showed on the page. But unfortunately both plugins are needed that the page looks like it should.

I have the newest wordpress version, also the actual theme version (MH Corporate) and there is no newer update for a plugin available. What could be the reason for my problem and what could I do to solve it?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi

    Thanks for reaching out.

You can have both Elementor and Page Builder activated but it isn’t possible to use both plugins on the same page. Sorry, I don’t have better news.

    Hi

Thanks for your answer. But till now, it worked well. I don’t know since when it doesn’t work anymore… And I also don’t know why… Is there no other possibility?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Leandra

I’m not sure what might have changed. Using the two plugins on the same page isn’t an intended use case so, unfortunately, not something we’ve ever tested for, at least as far as I’m aware. Can you perhaps take a few screenshots of the setup when editing the page and upload them to imgur.com or similar and send us the link?

    I've made some screenshots.

The following link is for the website on which the problem appears:

    https://bischofhauswartung.ch/spezial-service/fruehlingsputz/

I have marked the part which i wanted to change on the page. On Screen2 you see the view

in the backend and on Screen3 you see the preview of the page which doesn't show my new

    added "Frühlingsputz als Download"-link.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the screenshots.

You can use SiteOrigin widgets in Elementor, sorry, I thought you were trying to use Page Builder and Elementor on the same page.

The SiteOrigin Image widget shouldn’t be rendered as a shortcode. At PluginsSiteOrigin Widgets, is the SiteOrigin Image widget activated?

With regards to changes not reflecting. Please, try clearing your caching plugin, W3 Total Cache. Usually, if you’ve made a change and it is reflecting in the back end but not the front end of your site, it’s because of caching.

  6. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

Thanks fort he answer. I'm glad to hear that I can use both on the same page.

But it still doesn't work. I've tried to flush all caches, also the opcode cache and nothing changes. I've also tried to deactivate the cache plugin and make the change then, save all and reload the page. But that also didn't worked. I don't think it ist he cache… What else could I do?

    Hi, I Work Here

Try clearing your caching plugin and then temporarily deactivating all plugins except for those authored by SiteOrigin and Elementor. Next, re-save the widget then check the site front-end, any change?

  8. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

No, there are no changes. When all plugins are inactive, the site should look broke, but there wasn't any change. It looked exactly like before.

    Hi, I Work Here

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    Private Snippet

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and Private Snippet for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

I made an account, your written email address should have received a mail. I hope it works

    Hi, I Work Here

Is the email address for our account definitely Private Snippet? If so, is the lost password email functionality working? If you go to Private Snippet and request a password reset link for your account, does the email arrive?

  12. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

Yes, i've checked it multiple times : The mail address should be the one you've sent me. I also tried to reset the password of another account and it worked fine…

I’ll do my best to try and assist but am limited in terms of how much more time I can spend on this challenge. Emails should be arriving here on the forum as a private message, I’m not sure why they aren’t. Please, manually set a password and email it to [email protected]. Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. Please, go to SettingsGeneral and set your WordPress and Site URL’s to https since the site is running on https. Please, let me know when that’s done.

  15. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

    Thanks.
It is done, the URL is now with https://

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. There are still https errors in the console, please, try adding https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/.

  17. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

Thanks. The plugin is installed and ssl is active. But now the page doesn't look like before… The pictures in the content should be on the right side of the text, not below…

    Hi, I Work Here

    I’ve rebuilt the page.

The issue resolves when I deactivate Page Builder by SiteOrigin, I’m not sure why. When I inspect the source code inside the Editor widget, it looks like this layout was originally in Page Builder by SiteOrigin and then migrated into Elementor inside of an Editor widget. Without knowing the exact order of events, it’s hard for me to imagine exactly what’s happening. How many pages were built with this order of operations, Page Builder by SiteOrigin then into Elementor?

    Hi, I Work Here

To confirm, you can use the widgets from the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle in Elementor but this page looks like it was originally in Page Builder and then migrated into Elementor, that’s why the SiteOrigin Image widget was rendering as a shortcode and not rendering as a widget. Moving a Page Builder by SiteOrigin page into Elementor is not supported. Using SiteOrigin widgets directly inside of Elementor, that is supported.

  20. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

I don't know how many pages were built in siteOrigin and migrated into Elementor. Unfortunately it wasn't me who made this website.

So do I understand this in the right manner that I can't edit the elements created by page builder in the Elementor? And if I make a new page I have to create it the best by Elementor?

All the pages I didn't changed in the last days don't look line before… What exactly do I have to do that they look like https://bischofhauswartung.ch/spezial-service/fruehlingsputz/? The other pages also don't look like this page in the backend and in the frontend….

    Hi, I Work Here

If you create a new page in Elementor then it’s easy, you can use any of the widgets or blocks on offer in Elementor.

To restore the layout of existing pages, go to Plugins and reactivate Page Builder by SiteOrigin.

Here is what I did to restore https://bischofhauswartung.ch/spezial-service/fruehlingsputz/.

    1. I created a new row below the existing row. In one column I added an Editor widget, in the other column I added an image widget. The image widget was easy, I just added the image that is used on the page.

    2. The Editor widget was slightly more technical, I switched to the Text tab and copied only the content, the h2 tag down to the end of the list . Once I had the content, I opened the new Editor widget, clicked the Text tab and pasted the content.
You don’t need to do it in quite this way, you could copy the content from the site front end and re-format it, add the list, the heading color etc.

Hopefully, the process I used to rebuild the page makes sense. As you need to make edits to the site you could recreate the page you need to work on. The above process took me perhaps two minutes.

    Hi, I Work Here

I’ve reactivated Page Builder for you, it can stay activated, I just deactivated it as part of troubleshooting.

  23. 5 years, 3 months ago wpUser2000

Thanks a lot for your help. I will try to recreate every page like that.
But when the page builder plugin is activated, the changes are not showed again… then it looks like before.

I will deactivate this plugin if I made the changes… Is that right or will that destroy anything?

  24. 5 years, 3 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

I’ll get a second opinion and get back to you. If the issue is persisting on the page I rebuilt then something is else is happening.

    Hi, I Work Here

fruehlingsputz should now be working normally. To resolve the problem I did the following:

    1. Deactivated Elementor.
    2. Edited the page in question. The page in question is still in Page Builder, this is the issue. I clicked the Revert to Editor button to get the page back into the Classic Editor.
    3. I saved the page and then reactivated Elementor. Changes are now reflecting.

Everything is fine now. Thanks a lot – you’re great!
