page builder not showing up on one page

I am using SiteOrigin Vantage and am suddenly having issues when I try to edit the page I am currently building (no others seem affected). The problem is that when I saved/updated my last edit for the page, the refreshed page did not show PageBuilder as an option–only text and visual. The page is quite complicated so I really need PageBuilder!

I deactivated two plug-ins that I don’t use and each time, it fixed the problem until I saved the page edits when PageBuilder disappeared again.

Two days ago I updated the version of WordPress to 4.9.4 and updated all plug-ins that had updates available. I have not updated the version of Vantage to 1.6.9; I am still using 1.6.7.

Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks advance.

As a tentative solution, I copied the text from the text editor (the visual editor will not open on the dysfunctional page) onto a new page that had PageBuilder. That seems to be working. But, I am nervous that this will happen again and I don’t know why. This doesn’t seem like an optimal solution.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Salonprop,

This sounds like there’s something specific about the page (likely a page setting, separate to page builder) that could be causing this issue. Are there any setting differences between this page and the newly created working page?

Hi Alex S and thanks for considering my issue. I don’t see any differences in the page settings between the two pages and I didn’t change anything from the time the now dysfunctional page was working (i.e. page builder showed up so I could edit the page) and when it quit working. I am flummoxed. I just opened the dysfunctional page again and now it not only won’t show page builder, it won’t show the Text Editor nor the Visual Editor. Is there some setting that turns off editing?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Salonprop,

There is such a setting, but it won’t affect just one page – it’ll affect all of them.

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

I’m sorry, I don’t understood what you did to make it so that I can no longer access the dashboard of my site. Can you please provide more information???

Why couldn’t I have just disabled the plugins from the dashboard?

Can you please put it back like it was?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Salonprop,

Unfortunately, the second Easy Digital DOwnloads was disabled you ended up with a fatal error in your admin area due to Easy Digital Download Location Export doesn’t run checks to ensure EDD is active. This means that you’re (and sadly so are we) unable to access the admin area until Easy Digital Download Location Export is disabled and the only way to do that now is to use FTP. I’m very sorry about this whole situation!

I would recommend getting in contact with your hosting provider for assistance with disabling Easy Digital Download Location Export.

    Hi Alex,

I was able to turn off the plugins on the WordPress tools page of my server, BlueHost. I didn’t turn them all off…just a few but the dashboard is back!

I don’t even need EDD Location Export so I’ll leave that off, but I do need Easy Digital Downloads so that is back on.

Do you want to take another look?

    Alex,

I deactivated a few other plugins that I was not actively using and the page "Test Home” now shows the Page Builder AND Text editor AND visual editor. So perhaps it is fixed.

I don’t know what exactly was the cause but maybe without those plugins all will be well. I was afraid it might happen on other pages too.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. For example, I assume I should update to the latest version of the theme, Vantage? Thoughts?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Salonprop,

Based on the plugins you’ve deleted, this definitely appears to be as a result of a plugin conflict.

Yes, I would recommend updating Vantage.
