Hi,
I’m facing a problem with the page builder plugin.
After I edit a widget and click on update button to save the page edits the changes are lost and the widget returns to the previous values.
As the problematic widget is a custom theme widget I figured it may be outdated so I tried downgrading the plugin to older version which was working fine but after I did the page builder stopped working completely.
I really need to get this fixed as soon as possible so any help will be extremely appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Ameer,
This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your reply.
I want to try what you suggested but I’m afraid that disabling the plugins or changing the theme will make me lose the current configuration of the website (Like pages and widgets and so on…).
So, is it safe to do this or should I backup everything first.
Because also this is a production site and I don’t have a development version to experiment with.
Hi Ameer,
Your data is 100% safe. Disabling a plugin or changing theme will not cause data loss unless you specifically remove them. With that said, you should do a backup anyway as it’s a good habit to get into.
Let me know once you’ve run the test.
Hi Alex,
Sorry for the delayed response.
I tried what you suggested. Disabling all the plugins didn’t help at all. So, I switched to the “Twenty Fifteen” default theme and that caused the widget to completely stop working and its name became “Missing widget”.
So, I think that proves what I’ve told you before that this widget is linked to the theme I’m using.
Unfortunately, the theme designer is refusing to help me because my support period has ended :\.
But I managed to take this from his reply to another person who had the same issue with the same theme.
“The reason for this is due to the type of section in widget doesn’t work for Siteorigin plugin.”
So, I hope this can give you an idea on what is going wrong.
Hi Ameer,
Just to clarify, where did you purchase the theme?
To be honest, his comment doesn’t help me. There are no such thing as sections in SiteOrigin Page Builder
Theme developers are “Thim press”.
I purchased the theme through Themeforest.net.
If it helps I can provide you with FTP access & a WP admin account so you can check for yourself.
This is a private message.
Thanks for the tip.
I will try that and get back to you :)
