Page Builder is slowing down my site 15 seconds

Dear Forum Member,

I hope someone is able to help me.

I’m using the Sydney theme together with SiteOrigin Page Builder.
The thing is that everything was fine until about 1 month ago, when things suddenly turned.

According the tools.pingdom.com the site is producing 282 Requests, which is way more then there can possible be.

Furthermore the Page Builder alone is adding roughly 15 seconds to the page loading time.
This can be seen when doing a fresh speed measuring on pingdom. One Request is being loaded for roughly 15 seconds, before the actual data is being pulled from the site.

I tried to fix this today, but hadn’t any luck. No matter what I do.

When I disable the page builder, the site loads tremendously faster.

Hope some can help me out here.

Kind Regards

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Chris,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing, but I can assure you SiteOrign Page Builder isn’t directly responsible for slowing down your website. The number of images and CSS/JavaScript heavy widgets you’re using is resulting in both the large request count (155 requests are purely images) and general page load time. In other words, disabling SiteOirgin Page Builder removes those images/assets as that’s what is adding them.

You should install a Lazy Loading plugin as that will reduce the number of images loaded on page load and instead load them as the user scrolls.

You should also look into installing a minify plugin to further reduce the total number of CSS and JavaScript files being loaded. I personally recommend Autoptimize

This can be seen when doing a fresh speed measuring on pingdom. One Request is being loaded for roughly 15 seconds, before the actual data is being pulled from the site.
I was unable to replicate this but if you’re still facing this problem, you should install a cache plugin. I recommend WP Super Cache.
