Page Builder is not working when Give plugin is activated

Dear support team,

I am managing a website for a non-profit organization, and we use the Give plugin for donation forms.
Unfortunately, Page Builder no longer works when the Give plugin is activated.

Are there any workarounds? I love Page Builder!

Thank you so much,
Stefanie

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Stefanie

    Thanks for reaching out.

I can activate the two plugins and add a donation form to Page Builder. Is there anything else I should do to recreate the problem?

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you so much for your help. I am using Bento as my theme, and I use
Page Builder for the content and layout.
After activating the last version of Give, the only way to edit a page is by using the text editor.

I use a Give bundle with 10 different plugins, but it appears that the main
Give plugin (after the latest update) is the problem.

    Thanks again,
    Stefanie

    Hi, I Work Here

You could try going to SettingsPage Builder and temporarily deactivating Sidebars Emulator to see if that helps.

I’ve activated Bento and can edit a page with a Give widget in it.

If possible, you’d need to troubleshoot the issue further. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except for Give (just the main plugin) and Page Builder. That’ll let you know if a working baseline exists on your site.

I just tried deactivating Sidebars Emulator, but that didn't help either.
Here is a screenshot of what I am seeing with the Give plugin activated and deactivated.

My first step with I troubleshooting the issue was to deactivate all plugins except for Page Builder. Everything worked as expected. I then activated my plugins one-by-one, and Page Builder continued to display just fine. Only with with activation of Give did it stop rendering.

Thank you so much for helping me troubleshoot.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. Did you go back and check with only Page Builder and Give? You mentioned you activated plugins one by one and ran into an issue when you activated Give. It sounds like there were plugins activated before activating Give? If so, to confirm the conflict, you’d need to deactivate all plugins except for Give and Page Builder and test again.

Aaaah, thank you so much for guiding me through this, Andrew.
I identified the problem, it's the Give Stripe Gateway add-on that disables
    Page Builder:

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. Perhaps you can reach out to the plugin authors and let them know? It’s a premium plugin and Page Builder has a million + installs, hopefully, that combination means they can take a look and see if they can resolve the problem. Please, send me a copy of the plugin via email ([email protected]). Our emails go through G Suite (Gmail), I don’t think JS files are allowed. If you could perhaps ZIP the plugin, upload to Drive or Dropbox and send us the link, that’ll be great. I can’t spend much time on this but can hopefully come back to you with a distinct error. If it’s something we can easily fix, we definitely will :)

Thank you so much, Andrew. I very much appreciate your help, especially knowing that Page Builder has so many users.
I have uploaded the Stripe Gateway plugin to dropbox, and I also have reached out to their support team.
    Thanks again :-)

    Hi, I Work Here

For sure. I just mentioned active install number as it’s a factor when deciding which bug reports to attend to so hopefully, it’ll help this issue report get looked at by the authors.

I’ve installed the Stripe gateway, I haven’t connected it to Stripe. At this early stage, it isn’t causing an issue.

If possible, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG in your wp-config.php file: https://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUG. Once done, recreate the error and then check the debug.log file in the /wp-content/ folder on your server. You can download it to your desktop. There might be a helpful error there.

In the WordPress admin, when Page Builder isn’t working on a page, check the JS console to see if there are errors listed there https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors#Step_3:_Diagnosis

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Stefanie

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    Private Snippet

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and Private Snippet for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi, please can you email Bento support and let them know when editing a page, you’re seeing this console error: https://imgur.com/a/P9auayi. An issue with this line:

    $('body').on( 'change', '.editor-page-attributes__template .components-select-control__input', function() {

    .

Support can edit a page on your site to see the error. Please, ask them to attend.

Please, email me a copy of the Bento Expansion Pack to [email protected]. G Suite doesn’t accept JS files so please, upload the plugin to Drive or Dropbox and send us the link.

    Thanks :)

Hi Andrew, I just posted the error to the Bento support forum, and also sent you an email with a link to the uploaded Bento expansion pack.
Thank you so much for your ongoing help.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. I think the JS error in Bento might be the issue, the one I sent you info on. When you can try, the following, temporarily switch over to a default theme like Twenty Seventeen. Does the Page Builder issue persist? It doesn’t for me (using Give and Give Stripe enabled).

Thank you so much again, Andrew. You are correct, the problem is the JS error in the Bento theme, and I posted to their support forum.
Someone suggested a way to fix it by changing the code, which is what I am going to try and do next.

    Hi, I Work Here

You can certainly make the change in the file concerned. Just keep in mind that when you next update Bento the change will be overwritten. I’m sure they’ll have fixed the problem by then. If not, you can just re-apply the change.

Are you contacting the authors via their premium support channel? I haven’t checked, I’m just assuming they’ll have a way for premium customers to get in touch.
