Page builder disabled all by itself and weird characters

Posting as one problem because it happened all at once. I just noticed the page builder was “disabled” on all pages of my website (the content ended up in the visual tab) AND every accent (French website) has become weird characters here’s an example of text: “Se déposer dans notre studio intime et douillet, c’est s’offrir un espace à soi, confortable et inspirant. C’est se donner une occasion de prendre soin de soi à son rythme et à sa manière.”

This probably happened after an automatic update, but I can’t see how it could be related to another plugin update. I didn’t do anything it happened all on it’s own.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Capucine,

I’m sorry that you’re having issues with SiteOrigin Page Builder. We haven’t received any reports that are like this so we’re not too sure why this is happening. With that said, there are a few reasons why this could be happening so you may need to try a few things to work out what is going wrong.

The first thing you should try is a plugin conflict test. I know you may not have changed anything but a plugin conflict can be introduced after a plugin update, a theme update, or even a WordPress update – we’re compatible with the latest WordPress update but other plugins might not be.

Please try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If that doesn’t help, try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
