page builder alignment

Hello,
I’m using Vantage Theme and was trying to get my home page set up. the problem that I have is when I add new row that has 6 columns. I want to put my content in the middle four columns and leave the tow in both sides of the row empty.

And for some reason, It won’t center the entire row. Instead, every thing shifts to the right half of the screen.
I have tried many thing. I added row with four columns and less and still have the same problem. Couldn’t figure that out on my own.
The First Row that add seems to work fine, so I tried to duplicate that but not luck either. Even tried different layout like full width and full width stretched. Non of them has worked! This is true even in all pages.

my domain is www.alshareeflawfirm.com

Any help would be very appreciated.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alshareef

When you edit each row there is a setting at the top of the row that says “going from:” by default it’s set to Left to Right. Please, check that all your rows are set to go from Right to Left.

  2. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

Thanks Andrew for your quick response.

I tried but couldn’t get to stay on “right to left”. I opened each row setting, changed it to “Right to Left”, then I hit Set, and save, and then save the Home Page, and open the same row again, it returns back to what it was “Left to Right”!!

    Any other way around this?

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for raising this problem. I can replicate this bug. I’m going to log it now. We’ll attend and update in the next Page Builder release. This wasn’t a previously known bug.

I’ll chat to Greg tomorrow and see if there is any way we can send you a hotfix. Apologies for the hassle.

  4. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

Loool, I wish I had known it was a bug before I wasted to much time :(

Anyway, I really appreciate the support and I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next release or the hotfix.

    Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

Apologies again for the hassle. I’ll chat to Greg ASAP tomorrow.

For the moment, try editing the row in question and click the Layout tab. If you change the row layout to Full Width instead of Full Width Stretched, are you able to work with the row and have it format correctly, for the moment at least.

  6. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

If I changed the layout to Full Width, it becomes worse. The words broke into letters that stuck together in vertical, you can take a look because it would much easier to understand now.

The First row is Full Width
and the second row is Full Width Stretched

However, it might be useful to know that I use the Arabic version of WordPress.

    Hi, I Work Here

Apologies. The setting that isn’t setting isn’t for RTL. My mistake. Please, can we login and check the problem first hand.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alshareef

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi :)

I’ve done a few things so far:

    1. Deactivate Beaver Page Builder. Let me know if you were using that on any pages. Ideally, run one Page Builder plugin as they can be resource heavy and sometimes clash with each other.

    2. I removed the contents of Appearance > Custom CSS. It’s an older snippet that will no longer work.

    3. I recommend adding your logo to Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo and not via Appearance > Customize > Theme Design > Page. The problem now is that your logo isn’t clickable which isn’t ideal for usability.

    4. Once you’ve made the change at point 3 you can go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Design > General and center your logo using the setting provided.

    Hi, I Work Here

Onto the main challenge. Rather don’t use empty rows or columns to create space. The empty rows or columns will stack on mobile and cause unwanted extra spacing. I can help create the space you want.

The main challenge now is that my changes at Appearance > Home Page aren’t reflecting on the front end of the site. I don’t see any caching plugin installed. Please, reach out to your hosts and ask if they have caching enabled. If so, is there a way we can clear the site’s cache as required?

    Let me know. Thanks :)

    Hi
I remember that i deactivated Beaver Page Builder as I have never used it in any of my pages. I will go a head and delete it.
The reason that I added my logo using header widget is that In don’t want use the full width of my logo. I rather want to use 60% of its actual size to increase the quality of the picture across many different screen. Is there a way to do that via Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo ?

My host is hostgator.com and as I read through their support forum, they don’t have any caching mechanisms installed. I will chat with the customer service ASAP and let you know what they say.

    Thank you

I chatted with the customer support and here what they said:

” do not see any current caching enabled on this site or server – there might be browser caching enabled in the site software.” and “Checking your WordPress plugins, I don’t see any caching enabled.”

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the update.

I’ll take another look and try figure out the caching issue.

Are you happy with your logo as it is now? Let me know, thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

Finally, I’ve found the issue :) The problem is the child theme you’re using. It’s not possible to employ a RTL CSS file from another theme. It needs to be specific for this theme.

Can you please, ZIP your child theme folder and upload it to your Media Library and then send me the link? Thanks. I’ll have you up and running ASAP!

  18. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

To me, It looked better when I added it through a header widget since I was able to decrease the Logo size to 60% of the original size. The logo now is fine but not perfect. Is there a way to play with the width and the height of the logo?

The main issue is the Page Builder layout setting from right to left, and how tom make it compatible with the Arabic website. That really what concerns me.

    Hi, I Work Here

Sure, I’ll fix the logo. Please, send me your child theme. That’s where the alignment issue is coming from. I have a plan.

    Hi, I Work Here

Unfortunately, using the 2015 RTL CSS file is going to continue to cause issues. It’s like trying to put the wrong engine in our car. Here is what I suggest:

    1. You have a backup of your child theme in the Media Library now so we’re all good there.
    2. Delete your child theme.
    3. Download your new child theme: https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/vantage-child-alshareef1.zip.
    4. Install via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme > Activate.

This will immediately resolve the Page Builder alignment issue. I’ve cleaned up all areas of your child theme.

Once that’s done, point out to me where we need to apply further RTL styles and I’ll help out.

  23. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

I see what you mean Andrew, I even took one step further and deleted rtl.css and did not see any negative affect on my theme until this time.
Now, I can deal with the theme customization much easier.

I will continue editing my website and see if I need to make any RTL styling.

Thank you so much. You are a really life saver.

Just wondering, is there still a bug in the plugin or it is only a matter of compatibility with rtl.css?

  24. 8 years, 10 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Glad to hear you’re making progress.

There isn’t a bug, our content setup was being negatively impacted by Twenty Fifteen’s rtl.css. Twenty Fifteen has a different structure to Vantage.

If you come across specific RTL concerns I’ll do my best to rectify them using Custom CSS.

  25. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

    Hi Andrew
Page Builder is working just fine except in the footer widget where I have the same issue with of the layout. I needed to create rtl.css again for custom styling in Arabic pages like fonts and other minor things. But even if delete the file, the problem still appears.
    What am I messing here?

  26. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

I forgot to mention that the footer widget is not responsive and it goes of the screen in a small browser.

  27. 8 years, 10 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Do you definitely need Page Builder for the footer? It adds a lot of complication to that area. If you add widgets one by one to the footer area the footer will automatically assign each one a column.

If you need a 100% width footer, I can provide CSS for that.

  28. 8 years, 10 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

For 100% width footer not using Page Builder you can add to Custom CSS:

    /* Footer */

    body.responsive.layout-full #page-wrapper .full-container {
        max-width: 100%;
    }

  29. 8 years, 10 months ago alshareef

Thanks Andrew for your very quick response.

It turns out that I don’t need page builder. Adding multiple widget does trick and this is exactly what I need.
I will appreciate it if you could provide the CSS for full width.

    Thanks.
