Overriding vantage theme files ?

Hello,

I would like to do so twiks in my vantage premium theme.

First I would like to exclude the sidebar to be displayed on some pages and if there is a safe way, I would like to do that instead of editing the sidebar.php of wordpress. Is it possible with a child theme ?

I would like to exclude some categories from showing in last articles main page too and I would like to know is this is possible too in my child theme.

Do you have any resource that could help me learn wordpress to do that the right way ?

It would be bad to edit something that will be overwritten when WP or your theme will update automatically.

Thanks !

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Yohann

    Thanks for reaching out.

As you mentioned, it’s best to never edit theme files directly, if we release an update for Vantage and you run that update, your changes will be overwritten.

You can remove the sidebar on some pages by using the Template drop-down menu found in the right column when editing a page. Set it to Full Width to remove the sidebar.

We’re working on our YouTube video series, we have a few videos up here that you might find helpful.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions :)
