Only edit for front page not working!

Hi,
I have a problem with the SiteOrigin Page Builder. First, when you click edit front page, it will not open the page, it spins the circle in the browser tab indefinitely. Then the situation got worse, so now when I click on the edit front page I get a notification: “There has been a critical error on your website.” I tried the plugin conflict test and when I turn off all plugins other than SiteOrigin, the described thing happens. This only applies to the edit front page, it works on other pages!
Thank you in advance,
Boris

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Boris

    Thanks for reaching out.

The best solution would be to enable debugging so you can find out more about the error that’s occurring. Here is how https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-set-up-wordpress-error-logs-in-wp-config/. If this isn’t something you’re able to do, you can try contacting your hosts and request that they temporarily enable PHP error checking, they might be able to assist. Once done, try and recreate the issue, hopefully, There has been a critical error on your website. will be replaced with the actual error code and further information.

Thank you so much for the quick response and willingness to help.
I got a description of the error ….
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 25464832 bytes) in /home/tepihaus/public_html/tepihservishaus.rs/wp-includes/class.wp-scripts.php on line 405.

I increased the memory limit in wp-config.php to 256m. I did the same in ini.php memory limit.
It didn’t help me and I still can’t access the edit front page.
What do you suggest next? Is there a possibility to give you a user and pass from my wordpress site so you can take a look?
    Thanks,
    Boris

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Boris, super, glad to hear you’re making progress. Try pushing memory to 512m. You can confirm the change is successful by using https://wordpress.org/plugins/server-ip-memory-usage/.

Unfortunately nothing has changed. Still, when my SiteOrigin plugin is active, it will not open the edit front page, it spins indefinitely, and when I deactivate SiteOrigin and click on edit front page, a fatal error from the previous message happens to me. The bottom line is that I can’t edit the front page now, neither with or without this plugin. I’m desperate …
Is it perhaps a solution to call support from my hosting?
I can give you a user and a pass, if you practice it.
    Thank you very much Andrew.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Boris, thanks for the update. We can log in and assist if you’re using SiteOrigin Premium. We’re a small operation with a limited budget, as a result our free support scope is a bit more constrained. Did you install https://wordpress.org/plugins/server-ip-memory-usage/, please, let me know what the results are? You can find the information from that plugin in the footer of your WordPress admin.

Yes, you can call your hosting company and ask them to set PHP memory to 512M.

    Hi Andrew,
I’ve already increased the memory to 512M, those in wp-config.php, if that’s what you mean. I installed the plugin you suggested and here are the results:
    Memory: 29.62 of 128 MB (23%) | WP LIMIT: 512 MB | IP 94.127.7.160 (cp30.cpanelhosting.rs) | PHP 7.4.5 @64BitOS Version 5.4.1
This data varies every time I log in or refresh the browser tab, but never exceeded 50%.
What do these data tell you as an expert?

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Boris, thanks for checking. The first value means that your server is only allowing 128M. Please, reach out to your hosts and ask if they can please, increase PHP memory to 512M for you.

    Hi Andrew,
I called my hosting company and they told me that I have a shared hosting package, where the maximum value of PHP memory is 128MB.
They offered me to buy a “bigger” package or a separate cloud server, which I think is stupid because of an ordinary small site like mine.
What do you think would be a good solution to make a new front page and replace it? Not so complicated and complex page, but to use SiteOrigin as well. Would the same problem happen to me?

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks, that’s progress, at least you now know why Server IP and Memory Usage was showing two different values (the server max) and the value you set.

256M would be nice to have but you can try to work within the limits of what’s available.

Does the issue persist if you clone the home page?

    * Go to PagesAdd New, create a test page.
    * In Page Builder click LayoutsClone: Pages. Clone and insert your home page. Does the test page also crash?

You could try rebuilding the home page, perhaps the logos near the end of the page that move could be static, inserted with a SiteOrigin Image widget. Any ideas that might lower the memory usage of the page. Ideally, though, you’d want to edit the existing page and not have to start over.

    Hi Andrew,
Unbelievable! I listened to your suggestion, created a new page and cloned my front page into it. Then when I clicked edit page, I would not be able to perform edit the same as on the original page. However, here I had a situation to see the look of my page and all the layout of the widget. Then I removed the row where my logo widget is and the page can now be edited and updated! Great!
That’s where the problem was – logo widget! Thank you very much dear Andrew, I hope you enjoyed this experience as well.
