On page update, So gets stuck on text editor

Problem: The back-end editor gets stuck on “Text Editor” whenever I’ve tried to add a widget for category:news. I’ve used the SiteOrigins carousel widget, Inked Blog (Widgets for SiteOrigin by wpinked), and Cr3ativ RecentPosts Plugin to try the short code option. All three of those have resulted in the back end editor loading into text mode, and getting stuck. None of the other rows or widgets have that problem. It’s only when I add a widget that’s trying to load the news category and clicking “update” that it gets stuck on the text editor and not switching to the builder.

Steps:
1: Create 1 column row
2: Add widget (either SiteOrigins carousel, Inked Blog or shortcode from Cr3ative RecentPosts) for latest news
3: Hit “Update”
4: Page refreshes
5: Does not automatically load into the builder, but gets stuck on text editor
6: Upon converting to builder, all the original widgets get converted to the SiteOrigins editor

Troubleshooting:
1: Have disabled/re-enabled all SO-specific plugins: Page Builder, Widget Bundle for SO & Widgets for SO by WPInked). No change.
2: Have tried using multiple browsers: Chrome & Firefox. No change.
