On Click, link image to existing wordpress page

8 years ago · Last reply by Alex S 8 years ago

Hi all, I’m inserting photos into a page as normal and want them to be clickable. I want the user to be taken to another existing wordpress page when they clock on the image. Simple, right?

There is an option to enter a link URL, but since my site is in the design stage, the URLs will not be accurate when the site goes live and becomes www.sitename.com. I really don’t want to have to go through and edit every single URL link once the site goes live. Also what’s the point of using wordpress if you can’t link directly to the pages? Might as well just go back to pure HTML.

There is an option to link to something called the “photo page” but this simply links to a new, plugin-created, not-asked-for wordpress page, not an existing one. This happens (by the way…) EVEN IF you rename the photo so that its name matches the pre-existing wordpress site page.

This has to be simple. What am I missing?

    Hi Nicholas,

Your best bet would be to set the URL as desired, and then use Velvet Blues Update URLs during the migration. Alternatively, I would use a migration plugin that does this for you – such as Duplicator.
