Not able to set a static front-page with Vantage theme

I’ve updated an existing website and changed to Vantage theme. I’m unable to set the home page I’ve created, or any of the pages I’ve created as the static front-page via the settings. I don’t have the option to set the homepage as the custom homepage as I had when working with Vantage on another site. Whatever page I select for the front page, it reverts to what seems like an old/corrupted page template from the previous site that I can’t seem to remove. The only way I can avoid it from taking this old template is to not select a static front page, then it takes the posts page. I was told this could be a conflict with the theme but am at a bit of a loss. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Liz

This problem can arise if the home page is edited at the shortcut location of AppearanceHome Page BUT AppearanceHome Page is disabled (there is an ON/OFF toggle switch at the top). If you save AppearanceHome Page when it’s OFF the theme assumes you’re disabling the static home page.

The solution is as follows. Go to SettingsReading and assign a static home page. In the future, don’t edit your home page via the Appearance > Home Page shortcut, only edit your home page via PagesHome Page (or whatever yours is named).

Hope this helps :)

Hi Andrew

Thanks so much for the reply. I've done exactly what you said and when the custom homepage toggle is ON for my new Home Page and set to static front page in the settings it still seems to override this with an old page template. I've done exactly the same process on a staging site and it works perfectly with my new homepage correctly set as the static front page… So, there seems to be some kind of conflict on the live site preventing me being able to change the static home page to a page of choice.

Hi Liz

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

Hi Andrew

Yes, the site is: http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com<http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com>
FreeFlow Technologies<http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com/>
FreeFlow Technologies Ltd 1 West Regent Street, Glasgow, G2 1RW. Company No: SC420118 Vat No: 157052224 http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com

It's now set for the static front page to the custom home page I've created, but the page you land on isn't the one – that's being pulled somehow from an old template that was created in a previous theme, I think. The homepage you are supposed to see if the page you see when you click on home or http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com/home-page<http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com/home-page>.
Home Page | FreeFlow Technologies<http://www.freeflowtechnologies.com/home-page>

Thanks, is there any change if you clear your caching plugin?

Hi Andrew

I managed to solve this. There was an old front-page.php template set hat was overriding adding any other page being set as a front page. I removed it.
