North theme RTL language support broken on Mobile Chrome

By mos, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

I have setup a dual language website using Polylang, where the second language is RTL. The problem is that on Mobile Chrome (or any mobile device that uses Webkit engine), the second language’s home page does not render. FYI, prior to posting, had multiple exchanges with Polylang along with several tests. More specifically, after deactivating Polylang, I ran two tests:
A- Settings> Site Language> English
In this scenario both the FA and EN home pages render correctly in Mobile Chrome.
B- Settings> Site Language> Farsi
In this scenario neither FA or EN home pages rendered correctly. Both produced blank body.
Polylang wrote: “Only the site’s language matters (Polylang switches the site’s language according to the content). It looks like your theme has some issue with RTL languages in mobile browsers. I suggest that you contact the theme author to report the issue.”

Should you decide to fix this bug and require assistance in testing, please contact me via email, used to register for this forum.
Thanks.

    Hi Mos,

I’m unable to replicate this issue. To be honest, this sounds more like a PHP error rather than a general theme issue. Can you please temporarily change to a default theme to see if that helps?

Regardless of the above, can you please enable WP_DEBUG and tell me the error (which is present on the previously blank page)? This will require editing wp-config.php so if you need help with that I would recommend getting in contact with your hosting provider.

Already did the debugging. No errors. However, I was able to further trace the issue to the FV Flowplayer plugin. To sum it up, when the page is RTL and is switched to Mobile Chrome, page’s body does not render properly if FV Player is present. If FV is removed, the remaining content renders correctly. Appreciate, if SiteOrigin could determine whether it’s the North Theme or the FV Player that causes the rendering to break during the interaction. Thank you.

    Hi Mos,

Based on what you’ve stated, the plugin would be at fault. You can verify this by checking if the issue occurs if FV Flowplayer and a different theme are active.
