No longer able to edit as Site Origin Page Builder

Since updating I can no longer edit or view pages as Page Builder. I created all my pages as Page Builder and now they are just set up as blocks. I have disabled and reenabled all my plugins and that made no difference. I went back to older snapshots of my site and that also didn’t make a difference.

Any ideas?

    Hi Helen

Thanks for reaching out. Is there any change if you install the Classic Editor plugin?

    Hi, I Work Here

Alternatively, please, check for a working baseline by temporarily deactivating all non-SiteOrigin plugins in one go. Please, note that the goal is not to deactivate and reactivate plugins, the goal is to see if a working baseline can be found with all non-SiteOrigin plugins deactivated.

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Andrew

I tried all these and still no change.

Is there a way that I can 'copy' a page that isn't set up as Site Origin into Site Origin? I need to edit some of my pages which were set up as
Site Origin but no longer are (now under classic WordPress editor), and when I go into them I just see e.g.

That might not help me understand why it happened, but at least I want to be able to edit these pages.

    Thank you!
    Helen

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Helen

To confirm, with all non-SiteOrigin plugins deactivated and your theme changed to a default theme like Twenty Sixteen, the issue persists?

    Correct.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. On the About Us page, it looks perhaps Page Builder content dropped into the Block Editor and then was edited in the Classic Editor block, is that what happened? To resolve the issue, go to Plugins, if the Classic Editor plugin isn’t installed, install it. Once activated edit the About Us page. If content was added while in the Block Editor, I don’t think the content will automatically go back into Page Builder so you’ll need to click on the Page Builder tab to migrate it over. I’m not sure what the result will be with some content being a widget (the shortcode seen in your screenshot) and then plain content below that.

    HI Andrew,

I did start using the WMPL plugin (dual language) before this issue started so they may be linked. I wonder if when I tried to translate the page it switched it out of Site Origin and back to blocks?

Thanks again for all your help

    Hi, I Work Here

Without the Classic Editor plugin, Page Builder is only holding onto the Classic Editor format as long as there is Page Builder data present. If you’re editing a page, don’t have the Classic Editor plugin activated, click the plus icon to translate the page and then save that new page without adding any Page Builder content, unfortunately, the page will revert to the Block Editor. This won’t happen with the Classic Editor plugin activated. Hopefully, this makes sense. Please, let me know if I should elaborate a bit. Thanks :)
