Nivo and Coin slide transition not working

Now the slider is not showing the transition I added. I have it set to Fold which looks like a vertical blind but it’s just jumping from slide to slide with no fold at all. Or, sometimes, it folds a little and then just jumps to another slide. When I looked at my plugins it said the meta slider plugin is not compatible with WP. ??? I have a client wondering what the heck is wrong with her site.

I tried just deactivated meta slide all together and added a different slider called Huge-It or some name. But the meta slider code just kept showing up and i cant delete meta slider all together and reinstall it to see if that fixes the issues because there are waaaay too many images on this clients slides.

Bear in mind, I do not have the Nivo or the Coin slide transition on right now because it was jumping and twitching and looked horrible and I could not leave a clients website functioning like that. I have R Slide fade on for now.

Sorry, one more…It’s the page header slider that is having the most pressing issue but I have the meta slider in a few places on the homepage and all of them are having issues. However, the smaller ones are not pressing because the most important one to my client is of course her header. She ONLY likes the blind/fold style transition and WILL NOT budge on wanting that specific effect for the header. She was not as concerned with smaller ones. Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pilar

The Meta Slider issue most likely can be resolved. If you want to try sort it out, here is what I’d recommend:

    1. Activate Meta Slider.
    2. De-activate all other plugins, you can leave Page Builder and any SiteOrigin plugins activated, de-activate everything else, the issue with transitions should hopefully resolve.
    3. If the transition issue does resolve, re-activate your plugins one by one, after each activation, re-check the transition issue.

The compatibility notice is from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ml-slider/. Check the right column. “Not enough data”. All that means is that not enough people have voted on compatibility for WordPress.org to say if it works with the latest version of WordPress. That’s not to say it doesn’t, there just isn’t enough public voting data yet. Hope that helps explain things to your client.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the feedback. The final test to run would be to de-activate all other plugins and switch to a default theme like Twenty Fifteen. You might need to test with an page slider then as the top slider position won’t continue to work with Twenty Fifteen. That will let you know if Vantage is causing the problem. A default theme with no other plugins on would give you the most basic environment possible. If the Meta Slider transitions continue to break you could then look at opening a ticket with Meta Slider on their wordpress.org support page and perhaps see if they can help from there.

    Hi Andrew! :)
Thank you soo much for getting back to me! I know you guys must be busy. The problem is, this is a client's active site. I can't just shut it down and change the theme. However, the other night, very very late, I did a live preview of one of the regular themes, Twenty Thirteen ( i think), theme. It  didnt show the slider at all though. It also horribly screwed up the layout of the whole page. If I change themes at this point I would have to go in and reconfigure so much to make the page layout normal looking.

I checked with you guys first because the Vantage theme says its slider is the Meta Slider but when I looked at the plugin info it says it's no longer compatible with WP. ?? I've tried adding other sliders as the Header slider and none will take on the Vantage theme. It appears only the meta slider works with Vantage as a PAGE slider.  But I'll check with Meta Slider creator.

    Thanks again!

    Hi, I Work Here

    No problem.

With a production site you can test a theme change or full plugin de-activation by installing and activating a maintenance mode plugin, something like: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-maintenance-mode/.

I briefly touched on this in my previous message. Any other theme unfortunately won’t show the page Meta Slider or the home page Meta Slider, these are specifically set by Vantage. So to test Meta Slider with no other plugins activated (except perhaps a maintenance mode plugin) you’d need to insert a Meta Slider into the Visual tab, test it in Vantage, check that it’s broken and then test in a default theme.

There is a lot going on in WordPress so this approach is the largely the same no matter the problem. We’re trying to remove as much other stuff as possible in order to isolate the issue.

Meta Slider is definitely compatible with WordPress. If you check their WordPress.org plugin page (I posted the link in my earlier reply) you’ll see that there isn’t enough voting data in this release. That’s where that notice comes from. It doesn’t mean it’s not compatible.

Yes, that’s correct, Meta Slider is the only slider functioning via Theme Settings. If you’d like to work another slider into the same position it can be done but requires child theming and the use of PHP conditional statements.

So in summary, the best way forward is to try isolate the problem.

A maintenance mode plugin lets you take any production site offline for a bit.
A Meta Slider inserted into the Visual tab on a non-Page Builder run page, will work with any theme.
With the above two setup you can turn all other plugins off and test the slider for transition issues.
This will let you isolate the problem.
