Need Help with Video Thumbnail

I’m very new to WordPress and Pagebuilder by Origin, so I’m sure that I am either not seeing something or am just making a newbie mistake.

I have this site loaded on local host using xampp and it works well.

Using Page Builder on the twenty seventeen theme I setup my home page to have a full width section at the top which holds a slider and some text. Below that I have 3 equally spaced cells. I uploaded a video to my media library which has a image that stays there until Play is pressed (I believe that is what is called the thumbnail). I insert that video into the 1st cell. It plays perfectly but does not show that thumbnail, just a black box.

This can’t be that difficult so I’m sure I’m missing something very basic.
Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi Joegir,

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

Sorry Alex I have this on my local machine using xampp. It’s not even close to being able to be put on a live host. The video is on youtube but I’m trying to use the original video file rather than use the youtube link. It’s a 15mb video FYI

    Hi Joe,

Unfortunately, I need to be able to view the website itself to work out what’s going on. Can you let me know when its online so I can take a look? Sorry about this!

Regardless, I really wouldn’t recommend using a 15MB video hosted on your website as it’ll be significantly slower than if was hosted on YouTube. Ideally, try and convert it to WebM and have the previous format purely as a fallback.

I have the video on YouTube but unable to remove all the logos and such from them. I’ll have to do some reading about WebM.

    Thanks
