Multisite Search

Hello there,

I’m using Vantage theme with multisite. It seems to work fine. There only one issue I can’t figure it out by myself. I created the search button in menu on every site. Unfortunately it doesn’t search throughout the whole network, but only a present site. I tried Multisite Global Search plugin, is doesn’t work properly and it also doesn’t match to the website as much as the original button in menu.

So, is it possible to edit search settings and if – how to do it?

Greetings,
Pawel

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pawel

I’ve just done some research and everything seems to point to the Multisite Global Search. A WordPress multisite install stores each site’s content in a completely different database table, which is why searching across several sites is an issue.

Is this the plugin you were using? https://wordpress.org/plugins/multisite-global-search/ – in what ways isn’t it working?

    Thanks for your response.
Yes, i used the plugin from that link but I am not satisfied. The search button looks horrible compared to the Vantage theme and it shows the same posts repeatedly. I decided to not use global search at the moment.

Therefore I searched for a better search plugin, which could search for tags.
    I found this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/

It seems to me that I configurated the plugin well enough but when I try to search something it doesn’t show any results. FAQ says it might be a problem with some themes.
Is it me doing something wrong with setting the search plugin or should I change something with the Vantage theme too?

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the extra info here.

If the plugin didn’t involve any coding work you could try switching to a default theme and re-testing there. For example you could try testing in Twenty Fourteen or Twenty Fifteen. If you still don’t see any results then you’ll know the problem is plugin related. If you do, then we’ll know there is a problem with Vantage and this plugin working together.
