Missing photos

I’m using the Beautiful Pro theme on the Genesis framework. A few days ago, some of my sidebar pictures stopped displaying. These pictures link to various social and purchase sites. I’m using the Classic editor. I’m using the Page Builder by SiteOrigin plugin and the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin. I’ve tried deactivating/clearing the cache/reactivating the plugins and I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled the plugins. Clickable white space shows up where the pics should be. Any guidance you can provide to help sort out this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jo-Anne

    Hi Jo-Anne

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Thanks

Of course (should have provided that!) https://jpmcleanauthor.com. Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. Below are the steps for a plugin conflict test. The important part is you’re looking for a working baseline. It isn’t deactivating and reactivating that helps, you’re just looking to remove as much functionality as possible to see if a working baseline can be found.

This looks like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

I’ve disabled all the non-siteorigin plugins, cleared the cache, and pictures are still not showing, though now it’s a different row of pictures.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. All images seem ok now on my end, I’m not seeing any gaps. Can you perhaps steer me to the images not showing at the moment?

(I like the photo of the coffee cup, UGH)

The buy-link photos and the social-media-follow-button photos on the sidebars were missing, but that makes sense since I’d deactivated the simple sidebars plugin. I’ve since reactivated each plugin, one by one, clearing the cache in between and discovered it was the Smush plugin that was causing the photos to disappear. Whew! I’ll look for a different photo optimizer plugin. Thanks so much for your help and teaching me how to fix this type of problem. I’ll be able to tackle it it on my own should it happen again. Cheers!

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, really glad to hear you’ve made progress. If you wanted to, you could try deactivating all plugin except for SiteOrigin plugins and Smush and see if the issue persists, that would confirm the issue. I’m not sure if there is perhaps an issue caused by this combination along with Jetpack Lazy Loading. Just a guess though.

You’re right! I recently enabled Jetpack Lazy Loading. That’s the feature that isn’t working in combination with Smush. Looks like I can use one or the other but not both. Do you have any advice on which I should choose?

    Hi, I Work Here

Reducing your overall page size is probably a more important goal than lazy loading. You could also try alternative lazy loading plugins like https://wordpress.org/plugins/a3-lazy-load/
