Migrate to SiteOrigin

By ChipD, 7 years ago. Last reply by ChipD, 6 years ago.

I am trying to Migrate to SiteOrigin.
I am having a bit of a problem with a few pages. I would like to just start over with the vantage theme. But I cant figure out how this was done. Maybe some one could take a look and give me some ideas. This is the page that I just can’t figure out http://derolds.com/chiptestwp/ncaab/
I am doing This is for a friend. He can’t find his old web designer and asked me if I could help him with it.
I told him that I only work with SiteOrigin and if I could recreate this in one of there themes then I could help him.
This is a sample of what I have so far. (Just a test server) if you need a login I can send one.
If this can be done I will have him buy a license and get the right theme and plugins.

Sorry this was so long

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Chip,

You could replicate the linked layout but I wouldn’t recommend it – it’ll require much more work than a simple table in this instance. To clarify, Is the current setup a custom template a plugin? If it’s custom, consider adding the code via a child theme or a snippet.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Not sure but I think it is using toolset plugin and custom search. Part of it is using the theme css part bootstrap css. I am sure that there is a better way to do this I want to drop the green view buttons and change the search to just rearrange the order. the Results columns there is a total at the end. This is pulling from custom fields so every time he adds a new post it is added to the list. since I last posted I have started a new site from scratch and started with vantage child theme. But I am having a hard time figuring out how to do that custom field to post. It would be nice if there was a plugin that would do this. If not I guess I will try to copy what is there and re do it give it it’s own css and just link to it. O and there is there more pages nfl, mlb, Past Results,
I can give you the login. This is a copy of the site on my server. Any suggestions?

This is what I would recommend. There’s no direct plugin or widget that will allow you to do this from us so your best bet would be to either find a similar plugin to that’s currently being used or continue with the same setup. Is there a specific reason why you’re looking to move away from what you’re currently using?

Ok this is for a friend of mine. The site that you seen is just a test site it was built with vc and custom code. I uninstalled VC and installed SiteOrigin and tried to change the look with what he had. Way to hard with 40 plugins and custom code. The original theme that was used was chopped together with bits of other themes. Just a mess!
Every time I would change something other things would change .
So I rebuilt him a new site with SiteOrigins and vantage child theme. I think that SiteOrigins is the best and easiest to work with. I told him that after I get every thing working that he should buy SiteOrigins he said sure no problem.
The only thing I haven’t been able to do is that sort by date table from post thing.
This way if he wants to change things he can do it him self.
I am web designer but I don,t use wordpress that often. But when I do. I use SiteOeigins.
I guess the answer to your question is. Because SiteOrigin is the Best!!!!
