Hello experts :)
I’m using Meta Slider and currently having issues with target window set as _blank.
It does open the link in the new tab, but also at the same time, and also opens the same page in the current window.
So, Asked Meta Slider team, and I received a response as below:
“Matcha Labs wrote:
Hi Jihyun,
I think it’s JavaScript that is causing the link to persist and it’s being triggered in this (theme?) file:
http://www.inlogic.ca/wp-content/themes/vantage/js/jquery.theme-main.min.js?ver=2.4.2
Are you able to contact the theme developer to see if they have more information?
Thanks,
Dave”
Please help!!!
Many thanks,
Jihyun
Hi Jihyun
Thanks for reaching out. I’m not able to reproduce. Please could you setup a test page with a slider set to open in a new tab. If we could see this problem live it would be helpful.
Hello Andrew,
Here's the test page.

I hope you can find a solution for us.
Many thanks,

Thanks. Please could you try this test with jQuery Colorbox de-activated and see if that changes anything.
oh…i wish i could do that.
I'm no expert for doing what you said. in fact, I don't even know how to do it.
If you can give me step-by-step instructions, i may be able to do it. is there any other way around?
thanks,
Jihyun

No problem. While logged into WordPress go to Plugins and locate the plugin called Colorbox. De-activate that plugin and re-check the problem. Thanks.
unfortunately, i have no plugin called Colorbox installed.
but i have jQuery lazy load plugin although don't know if it has anything to do with this issue.
thanks.

Thanks for the update. Please temporarily de-activate all plugins except for Meta Slider and re-test.
I did as you said. but it behaves the same.

Hi TJCLearning
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:
[email protected]
Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.
Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.
This is a private message.
I just did so. Hope that resolves this issue.
Let me know if you have trouble logging in.
Thanks.

Thanks for reporting. We see the problem. It only appears with the main page slider. We’re looking into it and will report back ASAP.
Hello, thank you for working on our issue so hard. But it looks all broken without any plugins currently. Would you be able to investigate further with plugins activated? It’s a commercial website, and it cannot give a good impression to our customers.
So sorry about that! I thought I re-activated your plugins after testing. We’ve found the problem so you can turn your plugins back on. So sorry for the hassle caused.
it’s all good. then i’ll disable the temporary login for you guys as well, and wait for the problem fixed.
We’ll hopefully have a hotfix solution in a few days.
Thanks
Looking forward to!! thank a lot for your assistance. Let me know what to do next when it’s fixed hopefully sooner than later. :)
Cheers!!
If you’d like to try hotfix, download this file:
https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/jquery.theme-main.min_.js
And upload it to your server to the following location:
/wp-content/themes/vantage/js
Overwriting the file that’s already there.
sorry for being blunt, but…when clicking the link above, all i can see is the bunch of codes.
so, i can click the link, and save the text as .js naming the file the same as jquery.theme-main.min_.js??
when uploading, allow it overwrite the existing file?
it’s quite scary…
To avoid saving the file you can right click the link above and click Save As. Then use FTP or hosting file manager to overwrite the same file at /wp-content/themes/vantage/js
or…you could wait until the next Vantage update. I unfortunately can’t give an exact date on that just yet.
I did as your instruction says, but it appears the same. should i delete the previous file?
The previous file? Was there not a prompt to overwrite the existing theme-main.min.js?
Oddly, no…. I’m assuming because the link you provided has underscore( _ ) at the end of the file name, so it didn’t prompt to overwrite….meanwhile, i tried to change the file name, but it still didn’t work…
Apologies! Yes, the file name should be:
jquery.theme-main.min.js
Deleting the original and re-naming the incorrectly named version to the above would be the way to go.
If that’s still not working you might unfortunately need to hold off for the next update.
Thank you so much for your assistance and patience.
I guess I have to wait for the next update now that it doesn’t seem to be fixed.
I’ll keep you guys posted when it works. :)
Sorry the hotfix didn’t work out. We’ll have an update shipped for Vantage ASAP.
One option is to:
1. Turn off stretch slider at Appearance > Theme Settings > Home > Stretch Home Slider.
2. Turn on 100% width in Meta Slider to compensate. That setting can be found in Meta Slider. Click the Advanced tab on the right then 100% width.
Ha! Very interesting!!
I did what you’ve said, and it messed up the proportion of the metaslider, so i went back to the old setting, and it’s working!!! opening the link in the new tab!! What is it? Fluke? or Luck? Anyways, it’s working as I wish, so it’s all good.
Thanks a million!!!
Awesome! Not sure why, but glad to hear that’s working now.
We’ll still be addressing the root problem for the next update.
All the best :)
