Meta Slider image quality is terrible!!

Hi there!
I have been trawling forums, other peoples threads and generally been re-sizing a million (it feels like!) images trying to sort out the correct size for the homepage Meta Slider.. Am at my wits end! Please help!
I have tried resizing to the exact 1080 x 420 vantage pre-set size.
Have tried the difference between 100% wide output, smart crop etc and not..
I have taken a suggestion from the meta slider support page to upscale the images to 1280 x 350 also to no avail.

None of these things (and more!) have given me a consistent result :-(
I have gone to a lot of trouble to take high quality studio shots of my work, and then chosen vantage – pretty much because of the 100% wide slider..
and have now been pulling my hair out for weeks trying to work it out as every original high res image I upload totally degrades and looks utterly awful and of poor quality :-(

Has anyone got any straight forward suggestion of the settings and the size I need to make the slider/my images so I can batch re-size in photoshop?

Thankyou thankyou!!

Emily

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Emily

    Thanks for running Vantage. Here are a few options:

    1. Run a fixed width slider instead of the full width one. You can stop the stretching at Appearance > Theme Settings > Home. That way you’ll have a fixed resolution to work with. Right now your slider is stretching to match the display resolution. This doesn’t work for all applications. Fixed width would be 1080px, the same width as the site body.

    2. To get the crop settings working correctly in Meta Slider (Smart etc.) try this following snippet under Appearance > Custom CSS:

    /*
    Vantage Theme, remove max width/layer centering.
    Usage: Copy and paste this code into Appearance > Custom CSS or your own Custom CSS module.
    */
    body.responsive.layout-full #page-wrapper .metaslider .full-container,
    .layout-full #page-wrapper .metaslider .full-container {
    max-width: none;
    }

    3. In general WP will bump your image quality down to 80%, use a plugin like this: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-resized-image-quality/ to push it back up to 100%.
